5-stars for the best Dan-Ta egg-tart in the neighbourhood! I have been coming to this place for the past 20+ years. There are more fancy chinese bakeries around now, but I still feel this shop has the best Dan-Ta ever! I like a couple of their staple buns too: sausage buns and the raisin twist. You can never go wrong with those. But the Dan-Ta- omigosh, the egg and the tart is so fragrant and flaky.
I have never bought or seen a cake with so much cream and so little sponge cake inside. It was the smallest cake they had and I paid $18 for it. Very overpriced for chocolate flavoured whipped cream!
We really love this bakery. Everything that comes out from the oven is delicious. The bbq pork buns are a must. The door was nice and chilly and the feeling is just enough. You might want to eat too. On Fridays they have rice pastries filled with peanuts or red bean. They also serve Hong Kong style tea. Ask for a double double you won’t regret it. Update: they renovated and it looks great.
The best chinese bakery I knew so far in North York, their egg tarts are beyond delicious as well as their banana bread which tasted exactly like what I used to eat in Hong Kong. The lady working there was super nice and friendly, but be aware they only take cash.
Your plastic bag sealing technology really keep the food warm!
Under renovation. The Napoleon cake with walnut chips is good for the price some time ago, . Should see how it fares in new look or management. Very often experience, there had been price hike while quality down., Hopefully NOT. 6 Oct 2021 Wed update the rating
Usually all items are delicious. Today winter melon round was too sweet corn syrup?, spat out. Bun was undercooked with custard like paste inside, Almond cookie was too soft and tasted a bit weird. Had to brush mouth to ward of unpleasant taste. What happened? Different management or new trainee chef?
Egg tarts tasted off. Seems like they aren't fresh and probably from yesterday. Previously their bbq pork buns were also off. The filling was sour but they were selling them anyway. One cashier complained to the other about the previous customer asking too many questions. Oblivious to the fact that other customers can hear and understand all the terrible things she was saying. This bakery doesn't care. I wouldn't go back here again.
Been coming here for years they make the best egg tarts. Staff is very friendly and sanitizer and gloves are available when selecting your items. A lot of items were prebagged as well
Price is expensive for what you get - T&T level price, but not the quality or variety. Nothing special. Usual Chinese bakery items. I've given this bakery multiple attempts over the years at infrequent intervals, but I've had issues with undercooked bakery items. You bite into an item and parts of the dough will have that chewy undercooked texture and it tastes like it too. Once I could forgive that happening... 3, 4 times... they're very sloppy at baking. I'm going to cross this bakery out of mind and you should too.
