The gym is OK at best. I did have a problem with my account that the staff royally messed up & it ended up costing me $200+... They wrongly said they updated my billing info/card when they did not and they gave me a huge fee for 3 months had baby so had to take few months off. When the price dropped to $10 monthly it attracted some people who are unaware of gym etiquette. This Gold's isn't the elite, classy type gym like elsewhere in California.
I was a member at this Gold's Gym for 3 years. While I never had a problem with the Gym itself, I have had major issues with their customer service after trying to cancel my membership. I called the 800 number to cancel my membership when I was moving, and the member service agent I talked to said he canceled my account and would even waive the cancellation fee. One month later, I notice a charge on my account for not just my monthly fee, but also the gym maintenance fee. I called the 800 number again, and was told there was no record of me canceling my account. I asked for a refund and for them to actually cancel my account, but they told me only a supervisor could do that. They couldn't prove I had cancelled since I didn't have a cancellation number, but said they would have a supervisor call me back. Two days later and no word back, I call again. Same thing, but this time they tell me it will take up to 72 hours for a supervisor to call me back. I make them transfer me to a supervisor, who naturally does not answer the phone, so I leave her a message too. Two weeks since my first phone call, I still have heard nothing back from a supervisor. I called once more today, but do not ever expect to hear from a supervisor or from anyone who will actually help me. At least I have a cancellation number now.
This gym has been over subscribed for quite some time. You will have a very difficult time working out after work all the way up to about 10pm because there are just way too many people there. The staff is very young and it shows whenever you have to deal with them. They also will charge you a annual fee of about $40 to your account. Some of the employees will call it a annual maintenance fee. Others will call it a annual rate lock guarantee. At the end of the day all it is, is a money grab by ownership during one of the slowest months of the year. There are many other gyms in the valley that have far more to offer than this outdated and overcrowded gym. Save your money and your time and go elsewhere.
I was in town for a few weeks & always try to go to a Golds when I travel. This place was always packed unless I went later at night. Lots of equipment as expected at Golds, all in working order, and semi-clean restrooms. Overall a decent place to train & I didn't have any membership issues or staff complaints.
am out of town, been there before. it's no longer gold's gym, is EOS gym, me been a golds member from out of town I have no where to work out in Palm Springs, even the one in Palm desert is EOS.
Always have a good time. The people are great that work there. It's clean everytime I go in. I have only great things to say about this gym
