$2 for adults ages 12 & up and $1 for children! It’s a solid carousel and staff are friendly. The area it’s located in is an great part of Golden Gate Park that is kid friendly.
My two year old had the greatest time, she even had us ride on one of the horses that move up and down
Got here on Friday at 5.30, as Google said this closes at 6. Apparently it closes at 4.30 on Fridays. The kids were upset, but picked out which animals they would ride when we come on the weekend. So, here comes the weekend, Sunday noon, this place is closed. No sign, no attendant to ask, nothing. We had great fun in the car for half an hour it took us to find parking though.
Great attraction for kids. It’s $2 for adults 12+ and $1 for kids 6 to 12. The carousel is really well maintained.
Yes, it's old, but it's also a San Francisco classic, and the little ones love it. Just let your imagination go in circles for a few minutes and ignore all your worries. Try and find a horse that not only goes up and down but also has some hair on its tail. If you're holding your kids hand, let the hair also gently hit their back and really pretend they're going to take off soon! And just remember when you get off, that millions of kids and adults have been around and around on this joy ride. And now you're on them too!
Beautiful, fun carousel located right next to a great playground.
Open on Sat/Sun only, parking is tough, 20 mins to get carousel tickets. But it’s still fun lol. Tickets are cheap, various animals to choose from horses, cat, ostrich, dragon, zebra, lion, ride time just enough. Right next to a playground so your kid will be entertained and you can peacefully drink your coffee.
So fun and just $2 for adults. $1 for kids
We went to the ticket booth at 10:15. The website said that the carousel opened at 10:30. The woman at the booth told us that the website hadn’t been updated in 4 years and that it wouldn’t open until 11. Frustrated because the baby’s nap is at noon so we had to leave. I called parks and rec and they believed it opened at 10:30. They also said website had just been updated following pandemic. Somebody is mistaken and hopefully web site will reflect correct info or employee will begin operating carousel at 10:30 during weekdays. About 20 families were waiting and frustrated.
This antique carousel is a truly special feature of the cultural landscape of San Francisco. Nestled in the children's section of Golden Gate Park, it is perfectly located for young people to enjoy and get a small taste of history. However, the building it is housed in could use some maintenance.
