Golden spike

Description

The golden spike is the ceremonial final spike driven by Leland Stanford to join the rails of the First Transcontinental Railroad across the United States connecting the Central Pacific and Union Pacific railroads on May 10, 1869, at Promontory Summit, Utah Territory. The term last spike has been used to refer to one driven at the usually ceremonial completion of any new railroad construction projects, particularly those in which construction is undertaken from two disparate origins towards a meeting point. The spike now lies in the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University.HistoryCompleting the last link in the transcontinental railroad with a spike of gold was the brainchild of David Hewes, a San Francisco financier and contractor. The spike had been manufactured earlier that year especially for the event by the William T. Garratt Foundry in San Francisco. Two of the sides were engraved with the names of the railroad officers and directors. A special tie of polished California laurel was chosen to complete the line where the spike would be driven. The ceremony was originally to be held on May 8, 1869 (the date actually engraved on the spike), but it was postponed two days because of bad weather and a labor dispute that delayed the arrival of the Union Pacific side of the rail line.

4.5 Stars, Very tasty and delicious food. Good selection on the menu. I love the souvlaki here, and the lemon rice is pretty tasty also. Solid choice for any meal. Large portions with great flavor, should definitely drop by and give it a shot. Instagram @foodieadventuresusa
I got the golden spike burger with animal fries. Very tasty and delicious. 10/10 would recommend.Food: 5/5
When you’re customer service you have some sort of responsibility to the public, I don’t complain when it comes to food service but I was having a horrible day today, I just wanted to sit down and relax with my family but I was rudely assured they were closing at 8:15 instead of 9 as listed online and that it wouldn’t be possible for me to sit and enjoy a meal. I won’t be back which is too bad cause the food was great. But really. You never know what’s gone on in your customers day, you’re just paid to not make it worse. Have the day you deserve counter lady.
Everyone was reading about their food. It was delicious and a great stop after visiting Golden Spike NHP. It took a while for them to get our shakes but it was worth it. They were delicious. Definitely a place you should stop at.
The family was striving after visiting the Golden spike national park. We stopped here for lunch. The hamburgers were very nice and we all enjoyed our food. They also brought us our frie sauce. It was the first time I had eaten it in 20 years and loved it. The cashier also gave me a recommendation, and I'm glad I tried something newFood: 5/5
Overall this place reminds me like a 5 Guys without the price tag. Such an expansive menu with burgers, gyros, tacos and more. Food- the food was decent. I had a pastor burger with fries. The fries could have been salted, but the fry sauce was good. The burger quality was the same level as five guys. The pastor had a bit of heat which was fun. Price-overall I spent $10 a meal. Not too shabby for a combo meal. Staff-the staff was friendly and upbeat Final verdict-I would come back on a road trip. It exceeded my expectations but I feel like there is potential for growth too. Best burger in Utah in my opinion better than crown , astro, Apollo etc. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their menu a problem that happens more often than not decor isn't much, but hey I'm here for the food. The Burgers were cooked perfect and very flavored. The wait wasn't unreasonable for a tasty mushroom swiss burger. Definitely would go back and encourage others to try it out.
We gave this place a try on our way home from the golden spike and spiral jetty. The golden spike burger was truly incredible and the fries are great too. I plan to go back if in the area again.
Best place to eat! They have awesome food and friendly staff! Love this place we stop every time we're in town!Food: 5/5
Amazing, friendly, and comfortable place. The golden spike burger was amazing. It had bacon, mushroom, tomato, avocado, fry sauce, lettuce, onion ring, cheese. Amazing. Delicious. Highly recommend it. We had a bunch of kids with us and there was plenty of seating and no one minded the extra noise. Everything was very reasonably priced. They had Apple Pay.
