While my wife and I were visiting Tyler we went to see the Goodman - LeGrand Museum. The Lady that gave us the tour of the Museum was very nice, at that moment we were the only ones. The house was built in 1859 and everything in the house including Furniture, Clothes, Pictures, Painting and even the Wallpaper is original. Once she finished giving us the history of the Family and the House then on our own we would look at 1st and 2nd floor. She even told us that this House was the first house to have Electricity in the City of Tyler. The City of Tyler is a very nice place to visit. We are planning to go again soon.
Really cool place to visit when you’re in Tyler! Our tour guide told us that about 90% of the home is original items. You can really appreciate the history of the home.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Highly reccommend for a historical experience! I came with my bestfriend just to check out the grande mansion that Sallie left for our benefit of seeing what it was like before the modernized decor. The ladies are very friendly and welcoming wanting to spread and acknoweldge Sallie's life as well as her families before their passing. Very beautiful and must visit if visiting tyler!!
Great place to go.... and learn about historioy of the house and the Family that lived in House. And the lady that was in the house to tell us the stories of the Family that had lived there and we did a walking tour. These are 2 of them below.... Let's see Your Pictures That You Get of The Goodman-LeGrand House. Hoping that you have enjoyed your trip here too. Donna's and Larry's great trip of a Beautiful House of Goodman-LeGrand House & Great Property. We enjoyed the Hour's and the stories of the Lady of the house......

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about the house and family that owned it. It's a beautiful home, well worth the $2 per person suggested donation just to see the inside and all the period correct furniture and decorations. I definitely recommend stopping here and seeing an interesting piece of history if you're in Tyler and you love old houses. We went here on a spur of the moment decision driving past and it was a really neat place to see. The city has invested a ton of time and money keeping the house in tip top shape! Good for Tyler, honoring the wishes of the owner that left the house to the city!
This was an incredible experience. The house and all of its things are very well kept. Both of the ladies that worked that day, were inviting and nice. My tour guide gave me a wealth of information about the history of the house and those that lived in it and I loved it! I am stoked to pass on all that I learned and to recommend this place to friends and family!
Very nice historic home to tour friendly staff
