Spent a month at Grandfather Mountain RV Park. The campground has 2 sections, a lower section and an upper section. The lower section has back-in sites to a beautiful stream where you can fish for trout. These sites have some room but are not spacious and you'll have to park across your site or in the overflow parking. Lots of tent camping in the same section with 3 cabins. In the lower section is the office, small dog park, bathrooms and the laundry room which are fairly clean. Laundry is expensive at $3.25/washer and $2.50/dryer. The upper section has back-in and pull through sites as well as tent camping and cabins. The RV sites are pretty narrow and steep here. There really isn't room for the fire pit unless you place it on your gravel. Parking is tight unless you have a pretty small rig ours is 32 ft which didn't leave us a lot of room for our truck. The views in the upper section are spectacular! There's a big field and a playground. There is a bath house in this section which was nasty, mold in the showers and did not appeared to be cleaned regularly. There is a nice bath house between the upper and lower section. Both sections had 30/50amp, power, sewer. No cable and our internet was non-existent so we used our hotspot and satellite. Close to town with literally tons of things to do and see.
One nice campground with plenty of things to do nearby. Clean showers and restrooms. Very nice people that work there to. I've been there a couple times and plan on going back often. Beautiful scenery and restraunts and more.Rooms: 5/5
It pains me to write this, but I'm the Scoutmaster for a local Boy Scout Troop and had made arrangements to stay at Grandfather Mountain Campground last December. The trip was cancelled due to poor weather and Grandfather mountain offered us a raincheck to use anytime in the next 12 months. Fast-forward 6 months. We requested to use that raincheck this month. However, campground management stated we need to submit the raincheck letter they sent to our sponsoring church. We never received a letter and didn't know to expect one. Although they acknowledged they had emails with proof of our cancellation and them offering a raincheck, they would not honor that evidence and stated we needed the letter. They cannot prove they ever sent the letter...Horrible customer service and shame on forcing a non-profit to eat hundreds of dollars on a wasted trip. We will never patron this campsite again. 052123 Update: After discussions with management, Grandfather Campground has reissued our raincheck. The Troop appreciates the gesture and I am adjusting my review accordingly.
Solo camping trip to hike grandfather mountain. Site was one of my favorites I've ever stayed at. Bathrooms had hot water and showers. Friendly staff. I will definitely be returningRooms: 4/5
Great place for an RV or tent camping. Bathhouse was clean and comfortable. The site we had was kind of small, but we knew that going in. We camped next to the river. They do have some larger sites. Nearby activities: Close to Grandfather Mountain and the Alpine Coaster. Shopping and dining nearby
We had 2 full time residents across from us with dogs and I was amazed at the good behavior of their dogs when a camper with 2 corgis were always barking set up camp kudos for these full time residents putting up with new campers All the time and their dogs were always goodRooms: 5/5
We spent a week here in mid February hitting all the ski spots. The campground is located in a valley between Seven Devils and Grandfather Mountain. The view is phenomenal. There are two big creeks on either side of the property that are gorgeous. Bathhouses are clean and ample but are located closer to the primitive sites...which makes sense. It was a little bit of a hike if we needed them to double up on showers. There are also a significant amount of full time residents. Fifth wheels with huge decks kind of thing. But they were all well kept up. My only two complaints are as follows. Given that there are full timers there, some must have left recently and we must have stayed in one of there vacated sites. It was a bit like camping in a construction zone. Dug up earth with rebar in it and lattice pieces scattered all throughout where I can only assume a porch had recently been. Not all sites are like this, but ours was. Secondly, for a year round spot, I was disappointed to see that they had exposed bibs and no manner of insulation or heating. They have readily apparent signage that tells you if the temperatures go below freezing to disconnect the water but for a year-round site I would not expect to have to do that. We've stayed in sub freezing year-round spots before and all of them had insulated bibs or in ground hose bibs. It's not a deal breaker but to have to fill the freshwater tank and disconnect the city water while you aren't boondocking is a hassle. Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly with huge fields and a dog park. Ours loved playing in the creek.
This place is 100% underrated, quiet camp-grounds with a surprisingly nice bathroom for campers to use. Give them a try I enjoyed camping here, I think I will try a cabin next time.
Beautiful views. Nice town. Customer service is horrible. Also bathroom is never cleaned. It was a horrible stay. We stayed for a week and the bathrooms was always nasty.Rooms: 1/5
Great family campground. There is a river to play in, clean amenities, and lots of room to roam around. I am wish there was a trail head connecting Grandgster Mtn.Service: 5/5
