I stayed here this past weekend. The campsites were well-maintained, and really beautiful. For one of the nights I stayed in a spot right near the lake, in loop A. If you can snag one of these spaces, do you! It was absolutely gorgeous. The bathrooms weren’t super well-maintained, but there is a hot shower in one of the loops that was pretty good. It was close to Boone and a lot of great trails.
Nice campground.. a little bit tight on space and could use more facilities on busy weekends. Excellent location close to Boone. Really nice to be able to camp along the parkway. Of all the places I've camped in North Carolina, this one feels the most like car camping and least like real camping. Still nice overall.Rooms: 4/5
Great location off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Hot showers in D loop bath house. Can get busy on holiday weekends. We loved our stay and will be back. Easy access to trails and trails to Grandfather Mountain.Location: 5/5
Nice little campground. Only one "comfort station", set of restrooms, per section and only one water spigot, at each section. It's a SHAME the federal government has chosen to NOT fund our National Parks properly. Those working there are doing so much with so little. I applaud the Rangers and staff for their efforts to keep the parks from deteriorating any further. Other than that I can't say much. It was either raining or foggy the whole camping trip. Nearby activities: The Linn Cove Viaduct is only about 7 miles from the campground. One of the most important parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Unfortunately, again due to federal budget funding, the visitor center was closed.
This is the greatest little national Park campground. Probably a well-kept secret. It is immediately off the parkway. We have a 28 foot pick up truck camper and had a wonderful spot number 34. Right next to the trail that goes around the lake which is a beautiful 2.3 mile hike. There is no Wi-Fi or Internet at all. If you have Starlink from space 34 we were able to get an absolutely fantastic signal. We enjoyed our two nights here immensely and will be returning again. $20 a night. How can you beat it.
Shauna was amazing along with Amber, restrooms very clean stayed several days will return very soon! Excellent experience! Have been going to Julian Price campground for more 25 years!!! Don't like the change in how you pay!! I sure hope there will be first come, first will remain many people take a camping trip on whim especially to the Blue Ridge Parkway!!
As others have said, this campground is beautiful, there is plenty of shade under the large trees, and its location is fantastic. However there is very little privacy and too many visitors stay up late making a lot of noise. There are too many campsites crammed into the area. Sites are practically on top of each other. And I've never seen camp sites so close to bathroom buildings - I'm sure the people unfortunate enough to stay at these sites can hear all the unpleasantries that happen inside the bathrooms.
Great location - easy to get to hikes, grandfather mountain, and linville falls. Sites are very close together but the campground wasn’t booked so it was very quiet. Showers are very nice and bathrooms aren’t too bad. My only complaint was being yelled at by the ranger for using the restroom on the way out after checking out. We had packed up the car after staying for two nights and swung by the bathrooms for one last stop. She quickly drove over to tell me that the bathrooms were for guests only.. and after telling her twice that we had just spent two nights there, she proceeded to storm off into her truck and down the road. Other staff was very nice and helpful. The boat dock is super cute and has Wi-Fi. Kayak rentals were Amazing - make sure to check out the little coves!
We camped 2 days/nights 7.1.23-7.2.23 on loop A in a tent spot. The shower house is on loop D, but an easy walk from loop A. Loop A's bathrooms were clean and had TP and sanitizer. If you want hand soap, bring your own. We rented canoes and kayaks for a couple of hours one of the days, and hiked and laid around otherwise. The Price Lake trail is an easy 2+ mile loop, which goes through loop A, so you can hike from your site right back to it. If you want ice, bring plenty. They don't sell any at the boat house. It was a good trip and we'd definitely go back. Nearby activities: Hiking, fishing, canoeing/kayaking
Hands down one of our favorite campgrounds. The campsites are always so well kept and maintained. Tons to do around the grounds and minutes away including Blowing Rock, Boone, trails, fishing. Whether you are rent camping or with a camper or RV this is a must stop destination!Location: 5/5
