I only gave it 4 stars because they no longer allow overnight canoe sites. Only permanent. I use to go here all the time when I was a kid. Overall a great place to camp back years ago!
Tent camping at its finest. Right on the river with electric and water access. Picnic tables provided. Owner/manager and everyone we met staying in the park were very nice. Will definitely be coming back!
Giving a 5 star review because Daniel Boone has been by far the best place my family has ever camped, although I'm very saddened to find out they are no longer accepting tent camping.... : I just called to reserve a tent spot for the weekend and pop's told me they are no longer doing tent camping. My family and myself have camped at Daniel Boone multiple times a year for the past 3 years. Since we've moved here to NC it's my kiddos favorite place to go. I hope maybe one day they decided to do tent camping.... We will miss you Daniel Boone, my kids.... even more so.
We love this spot! It was recommended to us after the first place we has reservations at turned out to be a nightmare! They were able to accommodate us last minute and we were thankful. Tent camping is limited but they are great sites. All of the tent sites are situated next to a mountain stream and it is beautiful. Bathhouse is clean and the people are friendly. Looking forward to going again!
We've been camping at Daniel Boone Family Campground for about 14 years now and absolutely love it. It is definitely our HAPPY PLACE. It is one nicest, cleanest, well-maintained campgrounds around and the owner and staff work hard to keep it that way. We met some of our dearest friends here. Everyone looks out for each other. Any one that speaks negatively about Daniel Boone and the staff most likely are ones that are never happy and will complain about everything anyway, kinda like the ones that refer to it as a trailer park. We're glad that it's only has permanent camp sites. Makes it a safer place.
Very well maintained campground. Looks like you are driving in to a nice golf course. Very friendly staff, decent little pool. Horse shoe pits and plenty of open areas through out campground for other recreation.
I forgive but never forget. Several years ago at this campground My dad was well liked and him and mom had a camper here for several years. Wonderful people, we thought until he was jumped and was beat up outside the front office by another man from the campground. Long story short , office called 911, ambulance came picked up my dad and was told he fell. Me and my mom heard he had fell and we rushed to hospital. When I walked into his room I looked at him and then the preacher and I said several time “ you look like you have been beat up. Black eye, busted nose n lip, ear busted, big hematoma on back of head, and a big mark across his neck. One week went by and a good friend came by their camper and told them the truth of what really happened to my dad. He was beat up! ....owner did nothing!!! My dad absolutely loved being at this campground until this happened. Mom got shingles, they sold camper and never looked back. My dad passed away a few months ago from heart conditions, he served in the Vietnam war, fought up on hamburger hill and experienced things we could never imagine. Dealt with PTSD stress, panic attacks. I hope and pray this campground realizes what mom n dad had to experience and pray this doesn’t happen to anyone else.
Loved sitting by the river for a couple of hours. Staff and campers are very friendly when we go there. Hope to get to go back to camp there soon.
