I have to start of by saying, this is thee best Chinese food I've had, period! My first time here was Saturday, December 10th at around 3pm. When we walked in, we were greeted by 3 different kind ladies and we were immediately walked to our table. We got Mongolian beef, lollipop wings and shrimp fried rice. Everything tasted great and the service was excellent. She highly recommended this place and I went in thinking it would just be ok, boy was I wrong. I'm a true believer now. You have to check this place out. Maybe I'll see you there
Absolutely loved it. The wings were great and the sweet and sour pork was wonderful. I definitely recommend eating there as I don’t know how crispy either would be after traveling. I liked the ambiance of the place and service was fast and efficient. No splitting checks.Recommended dishesLollipop Chicken Wings w White Rice, Sweet & Sour Pork
I took these lollipop wings to go and it was as advertised. These are some great wings. There is a sweet spicy chili sauce thats coating the crunchy coated wings. And it comes with white rice!! A definite treat and worth the visit to get these specialty wings.
This place has some of my favorite chicken wings in Chicago. The chicken lollipops are very addicting! The food quality is good, and the staff is generally friendly. My only complaint is the interior is outdated.
Last night we picked up an order from Great Sea Restaurant and it was really good! Lollipop Chicken: 5/5 - these were AMAZING. We got a half tray since we had a good amount of people to feed. They were still warm after the 20 minute drive! Mongolian Beef: 3/5 - this wasn’t horrible, but it was very salty. The noodles on the inside were also soggy, however, that is probably due to pickup. Sweet and spicy shrimp: 4/5 - honestly, this probably would be a 5/5 if it was fresh and the shrimps coat wasn’t soggy by the time we got home. However, was still really good. All of this food costed around $95, which wasn’t horrible. The pickup service was alright, will definitely come again!
The quality of the wings has gone down immensely. They're fatty and tough now. Very hard to chew. I got through eating four or five of them in my order before giving up and just eating the rice with the sauce on top. Keep in mind that I'm a returning customer over the past decade. After the new owners, they seemed to maintain their level of quality, but only for a while. If you're a lover of wings in Chicago, this was a destination spot. But recently, the jacked up prices combined with the wild drop in quality of the chicken too has taken Great Seas from a must-have to a probably pass.
Probably my last time ordering from Great Seas. The lollipop chicken i ordered last night was really tough to eat. I noticed the wings were not fresh. It was chewy and had a taste of old fried chicken. Paying close to 40 bucks for fried rice and wings, should have been fresh. The quality has gone down drastically. I've been going to great seas since the mid 80s when it was owned by friends of the family. Was soooo good back in the days. Wings were made to order. Not any more! I understand the popularity this place has gained the last decade or so but no excuse to serve wings that were fried earlier in the day. So damn dry! The sauce can't cover up the quality of the chicken. The sauce is very different too. Used to have whole chili peppers in the mix. It's too bad that they serve you old wings in mediocre sauce. Can't even recommend buying their sauce to make your own. Buyer beware!
Went in to pick up a phone order. Lady takes my payment and goes to the kitchen I assume she went back there to get my food which was still being prepared but she didn't say a word about this and never came back. Waited for a while and asked a different server to check on my food. He came right out with my order. Ever since the ownership changed the quality of the chicken wings have dropped drastically and the price definitely doesn't justify even the quantity. I felt sick while eating. I'm never coming back.
This place has awesome chicken wings. You should get the spicy version not that hot, but there is also non spicy. The hot and spicy shrimp has a nice slightly crispy texture. The sauce on there is also a bit sweet. I kept eating them even after I was full. The service was really friendly today! it didn't used to be.
Lollipop wings are very different from the past. My friends would make sure to stop by there when visiting. New owner and new location across the street from old location on Lawrence. Just above average now.Food: 3/5
