The first word that comes to mind is authentic. I lived in Poland for 2 months and can say the food here is really authentic. I got a sampler and loved the meat pierogis, stuffed cabbage, etc. My favorite is the potato pancakes with mushrooms gravy. My only disappointment is that i wish they had variety such as hunter stew, and their bread wasn't very good. Other than that the food was amazing. The ambiance was nice too feels very cozy. The server was patient, kind, and attentive.
Absolutely the place you should go to if you like old-fashioned, home-style, and just straight up good eating. You will enjoy comfort food without feeling bloated and sick — which is sadly what happens so often in America. But not here! My partner is Czech, and she said the food is just like food her mother would make her. In fact, the website homepage says it’s just like grandma would make — and they’re right! Please support local businesses like these. They’re so important, and they deserve our business.
When regulars say everything is good, that is the absolute truth. From the soup to the assorted dinner entree, you can taste the quality and authenticity of this Polish food.

My family and I had never tried Polish food, but while on a trip to Chicago, we decided we were going to try many different foods, and we are very happy we stopped in at smakosz The food was phenomenal. We each got a different plate so we can taste each others and everything from beginning through dessert was delicious when we return next year to Chicago we are definitely going to stop back in.
Delicious food! We went to this place based on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. We were a bit nervous when we walked in and the place was empty, but it’s clean and welcoming. Potato pancakes just like my grandma made. Soft, tender pierogies and delicious, tart borscht.Food: 5/5
I really enjoyed this place. It was a completely serendipitous that I ended up here and I am very glad we did. The original byo that we planned on going to was closed. Planned on going to a different place nearby but saw this place and decided to try it. Glad we did. The food was fantastic and all homemade. Not byo, but corkage was fair. Tried a variety of dishes including many staples. All of them were excellent. Definitely try this place.
Finally got to try some authentic traditional Polish cuisines! They are hearty, flavorful and absolutely delicious! Loved the atmosphere and the waitress was super nice too! Definitely coming back here again! Dziękuję Ci!
Our party of 7 ate here at 2:30 pm. There were a few items not available when we ordered. It didn’t matter because there were plenty of other items on the menu. We ordered appetizers, soups, pierogies, entrees, and apple strudel. We ate family-style so each person got to try a little of everything. Service was excellent. The waitress was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. There was practically no wait for food. Everything was delicious. The potato pancakes were crispy and a little oily. The sausage was yummy. We had sour, chicken noodle, and red borscht soups. I was surprised the borscht broth was thin; the dumplings in it were tasty. We shared 2 platters of assorted foods including stuffed cabbages, pork chops, sausage, pierogies, and potatoes. We ate Smakosz style, meat, and sauerkraut & mushrooms pierogies. Other foods we partaked in were finger dumplings, goulash, and a Hungarian pancake. We shared warm apple strudels. We left well fed and satiated. Parking: Easily parked on the street within a block
Just touched down in the Chi and this gem was our 1st stop. Wife being from Poland she wanted a taste of home as soon as we landed. Everything was delicious and we got the personal treatment. Food is a little pricey, in our opinion but the food left us very satisfied.
