The Search: Trying to find the right property at the right price at the right time has been about a 3 year search for us, but worth the wait. On a Sunday afternoon drive in search of land we came upon a beautiful piece of property lined with white 3-rail fence. As we got closer, the buildings came into view and Angie's eyes became as wide as saucers as she excitedly yelled out "buy that for me Kevin!"
Kevin laughs as we slowly drive past and remarks "yeah right, it's not even for sale" just as Angie spies an empty realtor's post and screams even more excitedly "YES IT IS! STOP THE CAR AND BACK UP! Jacob - Mikel, get out of the car to find the sign in the snowbank!" My young men dutifully dig for the sign with no luck at all.
We quickly head for home and within minutes our Jacob had found the property on-line with Remax Realty (plug). We instantly fell in love with the property, but what good is an on-line love affair? We had to see it! Kevin phoned the agent who sold our previous homestead, Wayne Stoll with Coldwell Banker (plug, plug), and asked for a scheduled showing. We toured the property and really fell head over heels!
Of course, Angie kept cool, calm, and collected during the tour. Kevin on the other hand had the story already written on his face and the twinkle in his eye....this property was going to belong to him! As Wayne notes "a realtor looks for tell-tale signs in his business and there were definately some signs going on" as we took our tour.
So as all real estate stories go.....here we are ready to start off on a new venture, but before we tell you about that, let us tell you a little bit about the history of this property as we know it. In 1999, Autumnwood Farms established this property as a one of a kind equestrian facility in Northern Wisconsin.

Carolyn recently purchased another farm in Eau Claire Wisconsin. She purchased an 80 acre farm that will take some time to renovate and make ready for her horses. Eventually, she hopes to move her horses to the new farm which is closer to her home.
The equestrian facility is absolutely beautiful and Carolyn's horses lived in an exquisite home with tons of "perks". Carolyn did not pinch one penny when it came to her horses. You can just look around and know how much she loves her horses and how much she spoils them. Carolyn has been a great person through our purchase of this property.
For those of you that may be curious about how Carolyn feels about us renovating the property to suit our business needs, she tells us that she is ok with it and that she looks forward to watching our progress. So even though you won't see horses in the pastures anymore, Carolyn will always be a part of this property.
So who are we anyway? Kevin and Angie's families moved to Ladysmith, WI in the 1970's. Both Kevin and Angie graduated from Ladysmith-Hawkins High School and they married in 1987. Kevin has been a a self-employed owner/operator of Pratt Trucking for about 25 years. Angie is a registered nurse and works for Marshfield Clinic-Cornell Center.
Kevin and Angie have 3 sons: Adam who resides in EauClaire, WI; Jacob who graduates this year and will attend St. Cloud State University in the Fall; and Mikel who is currently in the 7th grade. They also have 3 pets: Faith (Multi-Poo), Katie (Beagle), and our cat Zowie who thinks she rules not only the dogs, but the people too!
We can't forget about our Krystina. She has been Adam's girlfriend since the 8th grade and is very much a part of our family as well. Although she may not be ours by birth, we love her like our very own! You'll be seeing her around the campground too.....just look for the girl with the novel in her hand, that would be her!
