Oh boy, what a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours. Great for kids and adults!
It was lovely. The staff were knowledgeable about the engines and rolling stock on property and the tours were lots of fun. Great for ages young and old!
While small their collection is in fine shape. Until yesterday, it had been years since I was there and the improvements are profound. So much better than it was in the past.
I'm continuing my report from earlier. Wife and daughter took countless pictures . Wanted my grandson to stand up to the caboose coupler and look like he was stuck. Another great pictures for folks is to ask the tour guide if the spout from the water tower comes down. You know, hold the rope, make it look like you're about to get soaked. Totally forgot about it.
The tour was very informative, and well-orchestrated. Our guide was well-informed and very enjoyable. I would recommend going and visiting it is well worth it
We had a great visit. Our tour guide had once worked for the railroad and he was very knowledgeable. It was nice being able to walk through all these old train cars.
Like being transported back in time! Our tour guide was informative and many points of interest could've allowed for more time. It was certainly understandable. Between at least 2 other tour's going on simultaneously 1 ahead of us and 1 behind and newly lifted covid-19 restrictions. The tour didn't disappoint! We plan on visiting again so we can spend more time enjoying the fascinating decor and the sense of being in another time. What I wouldn't give to travel on the sleeping car. According to our guide the railroad does have fund raisers where dinner's are catered into the dining area. My sister and I look forward to participating. Sounds like great fun for a great cause. This is one of those hidden tourist gems in the area that doesn't get nearly enough publicity. I highly recommend it just for the experience of living in a by gone day.
Mr. Daugherty gave the best train tour we have ever been on. He was very informative, took his time and shared his love and passion for the history of the trains. He was patient and shared funny stories. We have been to Spencer, NC and Bryson City, NC train museums. But this one in Greenwood was by far the most informative. Our 8 year old had fun too.
This was a great place to visit. Our guide was super personable. He worked for the railroad for many years. For $10 pp the tour was very interesting. I never felt rushed, and he answered our questions to the best of his knowledge.
