Havurah Synagogue

About

We're a Jewish Renewal community-an extended family of Jews by birth and by choice and friends from many different spiritual paths joining to infuse our lives with Torah & G-d. We are proud to be a LGBTQ Safe Zone.

Description

Havurah Shir Hadash is a community that celebrates our diverse approach to spirituality, Jewish practice, and our relationship to G-d. We are committed to deepen our knowledge of G-d and of ourselves.

We actively maintain a sense of rootedness and joy in Judaism. We are open to learning from other spiritual paths to see how they can help Judaism move into this new millennium.

At the same time, we are committed to sharing sacred Jewish technologies with other religious traditions.

In these times, Israel’s existence is still being questioned, and is being boycotted by a few academic circles in the U.S. and Europe. In response, the Havurah Council has unanimously agreed to adopt a statement of support for the state of Israel: “Havurah Shir Hadash is steadfastly committed to the support and recognition of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, and as a member of the family of free nations.”

Mission

The Havurah Synagogue is dedicated to providing a regional resource in the Rogue Valley, and a home for Jewish Renewal, a progressive, egalitarian and deeply-spiritual path, one that promotes interfaith dialogue and understanding. Our purpose is to provide a place where people of all beliefs, backgrounds and orientations, families and individuals, young and old, can find comfort and nourishment in the context of Jewish spirituality. Encouraging new modes of expression, prayer and practice, the Havurah Synagogue is dedicated to being a point of entry or re-entry for unaffiliated Jews who seek to infuse their lives with the ancient and evolving values and traditions.
For our members, supporting friends and our neighbors, the Havurah is dedicated to providing unique ongoing educational opportunities. For our children and for our future as a People, we are pledged to promote a “curriculum” that provides a sense of rootedness and joy in their Jewish identity.
Havurah Synagogue is committed to supporting our Members during times of crisis, while providing opportunities to join together in joyous celebration.
