I have long wanted to see a film in this space -- I had toured it under construction. It is an historic preservation masterpiece... maintaining historic fabric and in- building a jewel of a theater. Tonight's film See How They Run is a film I can confidently recommend to everyone!
Really quaint space. I loved it. But the highlight of our visit was our entertainment. My mother, sister and I took in a film entitled: "Mr. Malcolm's List". I adore period films and envisioning the truer side of wealth and splendor across racial lines is both refreshing and astonishing. The film was excellent, great choice. I highly recommend it. The spot appeared to be family-owned and very welcoming. I did not check out the restroom but the waiting area and theatre were clean and inviting. The Chardonnay was lovely, the popcorn nostalgic. Five stars. The Backlot is indeed a treat; I highly recommend it if you're looking for a good old movie experience...it would be super cool if they held a Black-n-White film festival!
I am in LOVE with these two theaters The High Pointe Theater AND The Back Lot. Just saw Elvis at The Back Lot and it was fantastic. We love both of these theaters, but the Back Lot shines for movies with great soundtracks. Our favorite theaters in St Louis by a long shot.
This is a delightful classy small neighborhood theater, perfect for indie films, a fitting complement to the main theater in separate buildings. Longtime family ownership creates family hospitality. They know movies! Like the main theater the concessions are very reasonable. And there's a bar too.
The theater is BEAUTIFUL. The staff AMAZING. The prices spectacular! Can't wait to go back. The seats are great. The rock but don't recline. I sat in the front and it didn't even bother me, which in most places I couldn't stand. The sound and the projection were incredible. Not too loud or too soft. Feels so luxurious without all the tacky stuff at most theaters neon lights, 89s decor etc.
One of my favorite places to see a movie. Feels nicely urban. Wednesday is $5 admission night. They tend to show indie films. Seats are stadium style that recline some and they are comfortable and in good condition. Theatre is small so you're never too far back. Decent concessions of course. Try it, you'll like it.
This is a great place with fantastic owners! Reasonable prices on tickets and concessions, and there are always interesting movies showing. The Backlot has limited seating, so get there a little bit before the show if you want your choice of seats. They have great popcorn with real butter!, snacks, craft beer, and a cocktail selection that adds to the enjoyment of any show. If you're looking for an intimate theater experience, plan your next opportunity to go to the Backlot. There are great restaurants, and bars nearby for before, or after the show. Also, every Wednesday all tickets are just $5. If you're looking for a classic movie theater experience, check out the main theater around front with significantly more seating. Pretty much any movie at the Hi-Pointe is worth seeing. It seems like the owners, Diana and Bill, are there for every show. There isn't a moment where they aren't smiling at every person that comes through the door. They make you feel like you're coming to watch a movie in their home. Everyone there takes great care of you. Go to the Hi-Pointe the next chance you get!
Quaint, intimate & relaxed is a perfect description of this venue. You'll appreciate the lack of crowds, while inhaling the popcorn aroma. The service is more personal, unlike the larger theatres in the area. I can't wait to go back.
Love the intimate environment to watch a movie, more like a large home media room for 60 peeps. Staff is great and helpful. Seats fill up quickly for popular movies. Seats are general seeing and there isn't a bad seat, really.
Small, cozy theater that is significantly less expensive than most commercial theaters. Very cool and comfortable, with well priced snacks. Student discount, too, which makes the experience more affordable.
