The ride is so fun. It’s a great way to experience the other park in a fun way. The train experience is different on the way back as well. So defiantly take it both directions of you can. The wait can be long though. So just be prepared.Visited onWeekday
Ride is so not worth it. You would need a park-to-park access ticket to board this train whereas you could buy two individual tickets instead. The train I guess replicates Hogwarts Express but it would definitely be faster to walk from one park to the other. Shout-out to the friendly Universal train conductor employee!!
Super fun! You could walk to the other park, or you can ride this and have a short, but fun trip. We rode multiple times in one day, the show is different depending what direction you're going. It really makes a great first impression on islands of adventure of you like Harry Potter. While on a brief look at the tracks, it's obviously a cable-drawn theme park ride, the huge stream locomotive replica at the front billowing out clouds with pistons that cycle and full size wheels is believable beyond what I expected when I planned to come here. There are little nice touches around the stations that help build the aesthetic. It feels like a lot of care was put into making this ride feel genuine, moreso than some of the other rides at the park. It dumps you out right into a Harry Potter village that has so much going on, it's slightly overwhelming at first in a good way.
It’s a fake train, pulled by cable, to simulate the train ride from London to Hogwarts. In reality it’s just a nice way to get to Islands of Adventure without walking way around the parks. There are “windows” that are really screens, and you’ll see things in the screen as if you were riding a train. You’ll probably have the dementors show up, but nothing enters your room on the train. Not a bad way to get between parks but nothing exciting. The station is nice, and air conditioned though. Nice break in the summer.
Is it possibly faster to walk to IOA instead of taking the train? On a busy day, definitely, yes. There are points throughout the day when the wait from King's Cross would be over an hour without express. But if you're visiting during the off-season, or catch this first thing in the morning, it's very worth it. It's a fun little ride and makes traveling to Hogsmeade so much more immersive when you arrive via train. Plus, ask the ticket attendants about finding platform 9 3/4. ;- The team members are great— be prepared for some comments about your 'strange garments' if you're in your houses garb.
Definitely expected more out of this ride and the wait was unnecessarily long. We waited 80 min December 29. The queue is a little cool and looks just like a London tube station. They do seem to fit a good amount of people in each train but I think they need to have more trains. The workers of course say there's only "one train" but it's clear there's at least two and based on how much the queue moved, I'd say there were only two. The ride itself is short but a fun little experience being in the train. Graphics could have been a tad better though on the window. Overall fun concept though and if you're there to see both parks for the Wizarding World, an obvious must and beats walking to the park entrances instead.
So the train goes from both universal to islands of adventure and is all Harry Potter themed. It requires a park hopper pass and we used the express pass get one for free by staying at the Loews hotel and the wait was about 20 minutes. This train is the iconic 9 3/4 platform and starts in London and then goes to hogwarts. Each cabin seats 8 people and it’s wheelchair compliant and accessible. It is a great theme and while just a simple train ride it has a video that takes you on the journey to hogwarts and makes hogwarts that much greater
You can go through platform 9 3/4! The atmosphere is amazing! You feel like you’re in the movie. While you ride the train, there is the Harry Potter music and you look out the window and you can watch yourselves go to Hogwarts! Hogwarts Express takes you between the 2 Universal Parks, you can only ride it if you have the 2 park pass.
Not really a ride. This attraction is actually a means of moving between the two parks. The attraction is a very cool rendition of Kings Cross, London. It's very classical and realistic. The ride is a mockup steam engine where you're placed in groups in each rail car. There's a very small relatively low resolution screen that acts as the train window where your journey from London to the Harry Potter dimension is rendered. I think that if you're a huge Harry Potter fan, you'd probably enjoy yourself, but overall I found the journey unremarkable. The queue time rarely drops below an hour, which seems a little pointless as you can walk between the parks in a fraction of that time.
I really liked King's Cross Station! It is beautiful, looks a lot like the movie although it is not perfectly accurate..., and the attention to detail is amazing! I was confused at first because I wasn't sure at if the station is only for the Hogwarts Express, but it is indeed. Remember that you will need a park-to-park ticket to go on the train. The line is generally about 15 minutes but can go down to 10 and even 5 depending of the time of the day, which is really not that bad and I would say that it is very worth taking, not just for the experience, but to get to Island of Adventures faster. But Kings Cross Station is so well done, it even has the "Make a little magic..." advertisement from the movies, although the sentence was cut shorter. There is a lot of queue space but the line goes pretty quickly because there is a train about every 10 minutes, maybe even less. As decoration, there are tons of luggages, packages and carts everywhere, and when you get to the wall which is upstairs that leads to Platform 9 3/4, you can actually "cross it" because there is a glass with a wall effect in front of where you walk, so make sure to have someone take a video of you when you go though the wall If there is not too many people, that is... Sadly, the platform area does not look like the movies at all. It is a very small space with only the signs to platform 9 and 10. Once you get to the platform, the details are even more amazing, with owls and Platform 9 3/4 signs! It looks a lot like the movie but I wouldn't say exactly the same. It is still amazing and very beautiful though. Plus, there is a place outside of the line where you can go to take pictures with the front of the train. The thing that threw me off the most is that, when the train gets to the station, it goes backwards... I guess it was easier to do this way, but yikes... :/ The inside of the train looks a little smaller than the one in the movie, but is pretty similar. You will be 6 in your cabin. A video plays in the window as well as in the door window during the trip, which is a fun experience, you get to see characters from the franchise and cool things happening. The experience is a little different on the way back so you should try both. Oh and the outside of the train looks amazing, just like the movies, it even has steam coming out of it. I also loved the employees uniforms, they look so authentic. Definitely a must do for Harry Potter fans and anyone who is going to visit both parks in 1 day.
