I am posting a few of the things that I have made over the past year that I have been taking classes at Home Ec. Each and every piece is something that I started--and finished--during a class that I took. I had been trying to get my quilting mojo back for over a year when I took my first class. No joy. But really the moment I started taking classes, I was back. it has been fantastic.
Stand in there for 10 minutes and you'll completely understand the charm and appeal of a local community, motivated not by profits but by passion for their subject matter and a genuine desire to enrich the people around them.
What a gem this place is for fabric crafters and sewers. Excellent warm welcoming space. Work tables. Sewing machines. Bring your own supplies, work on your projects. Drop in or make appointments. Very skilled staff advises on best methods, helps beginners, suggests options. Can't recommend it enough! Want to take some classes!
If you are looking for a place where you can let your hair down and also get back to your natural roots, then set yourself up here. You won't be disappointed. The new location has plenty of space for sewers, knitters and quilters alike. The staff are knowledgeable, generous with their time and loving of your work. The fabric selection is outstanding with most of it from Japan, so you know you will be making something that nobody else will have. You won't be disappointed and will learn several skills to take with you for a long time coming.
This local small business provides a lot of helpful knowledge along with its wonderful, unique, quality inventory of fabric, notions, and yarns. Luv this place.
Amazing place! The people that work there are phenomenally knowledgeable about every kind of stitching that exists. Just finished an embroidery class, made the cutest little ornament!! Wish I could give it a million stars!!!
My favorite yarn store ever! I've been coming here for years throughout undergrad and Codi and the whole team have always welcomed me with a smile. Amazing selection, including some local indie dyers, and always at fair prices. Now that I've moved away from Iowa City, this is definitely one of the places I miss most.

Love the unique fabrics! I always find something to take home.
Wonderful local yarn and sewing shop, great selection of yarns and if you need large quantities for bigger projects they can order it for you. They also carry a lot of indie apparel sewing patterns that you can't get from big craft stores as well as gadgets and crafting accessories.
