Nice rooms, and appreciated having a fridge. Weird hotel layout; entered through the ground floor side, but had to take an elevator to 3rd floor to find the lobby for check in. Didn't do valet, since it was expensive $42 overnight, if I remember. Found street parking easily. Rooms have been updated, but there are still signs of the "old." No big deal, still clean and functional. Not enough insulation to block out noise of other guests, but since it was mid-week it wasn't disruptive. Nice area, with options for food down the street. As always, don't expect anything quality or vegan/gluten free at the breakfast. Nice to have a mini kitchen in the room to create options. But we just used this to sleep in between being at the hospital with an ill family member. Didn't sense compassion or kindness from any staff, but we were super worn out emotionally and extra sensitive to this. Still kinda disappointing on that front, considering the cost.
The hotel was pretty decent, the room was large enough with a living room and a kitchen to even cook, a microwave and a big fridge. The room was pretty nice. The only thing I didn't like is that I found a dead cockroach by the bedside table and the pool color was too green, it didn't seem clean enough for me to risk being in it. Other than that, pretty decent hotel. I only stayed for a night.
We had a great 2 night stay! The room was quite, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was hot and delicious. The valet was friendly and helpful with all of our in and outs. The key cards were tricky to use on the elevator and to get into our room but everyone was quick to help and help us figure it out:Rooms: 5/5
Good and clean rooms but the person at Valet, your starting pint and face of the hotel was very rude and ill mannered. I asked him to remove the car from the main door so that I can move my car but he started to talk rudely and didn’t move his car for the next 5 minutes. Hotel management should provide necessary training to such people to ensure that such incidents do not spoil the entire stay experience of the guests
This is a very clean well maintained hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly, it's a good spot close to tons of activities the traffic into town at 8 at night was pretty intense. Otherwise a great stay in a very well kept hotel. Food & drinks: The snack bar is full with a ton of choices everything your heart could desire for snacking. The breakfast was on point and breakfast staff was AMAZING and so sweet.
Service was excellent! Views were lovely! Carpet was trashed in a couple spots, and the door lock had to be fixed before I could leave the room, and still took 3+ tries to get in and out of the room.Rooms: 4/5
After waiting well over an hour already an hour beyond checkin time we found the room to be dirty, the dishwasher broken and full of dirty dishes which added a nice smell to the room, the air conditioning in the room didn’t work, and the room had the general smell of an ashtray. Not good. The front desk was at least helpful and didn’t charge us for parking, but the hotel itself was gross. The smell in the room can only be described as years of stale weed smoke mixed with cleaning solution. I forgot to mention the hair stuck in the “clean” bath towels, the stains on the “clean” beds, and the visible dirt and general filth on the walls and ceilings. If you told me this was a 25 dollar a day hotel, I’d say you’re overpaying. We’ve stayed here probably 5 other times. We thought the last time which wasn’t great was just a fluke, nope. It’s bad. Don’t stay here. the smell in the room is awful. Rooms: Filthy.
We were very disappointed.. This hotel was recommended to my husband and I while visiting the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, we were told by the coordinator that recommended it that we would get a CHOP discount.. thats why we came here. Our visit was at the very beginning of April. When my husband called to make the reservation and asked about the discount it was blown off and they made the reservation without it. He called again the next day and asked about it again with our current reservation and was told it would be handled when we check in. Upon check in he was told the discount was supposed to be set up while originally making the reservation… he told the receptionist what he was told over the phone and she gave him her card and told him to call her next time.. she told him that they do honor the CHOP discount but continued to check us in without the discount.. after checking out we checked the receipt and saw nothing about the discount. We were not visiting Philadelphia for fun but because we had to so that was irritating. This made our already stressful situation more stressful. Trying to get to our room took longer than expected because nobody bothered explaining to us that you had to use your room key to get the elevator to go past the lobby floor. We were going up and down for a while before somebody else came into the elevator and used their room key.. The room we got had its own living room and kitchenette which we enjoyed but once we started looking closer at everything we started finding all sorts of damages and some dirty spots, it made the whole place feel very unsanitary. It also smelled like whoever was in there previously was smoking in the room. The chairs had marks on them as if they had been used to open beer bottles, the speaker on the big fire alarm in the bedroom was damaged, whoever previously cleaned the room missed whatever had splattered on one of the light shades staining it and on the wall behind it. There was missed trash on the floor in the bathroom… seeing smoke trash being missed makes you wonder what kind of fine details had been missed… we also thought the kitchenette was missing dishes until checking the dishwasher. They were clean but I have never been to a hotel where they don’t put away the dishes. The valet was kind of non optional as finding somewhere to park in the area was ridiculous but I feel the pricing was reasonable. The guys who were the valets were very polite but one of them must have accidentally broke a piece off of one of the brand new accessories in our car, there’s a picture of the damaged accessory and a picture of the one that is damaged. Not a huge deal but when their liability policy states they’re not responsible for any damages even though our vehicle is under their care I was expecting possible damages to be from the car being broken into not from the valet themselves. Walkability: Within walking distance of the Hospital, the college, a grocery store, and lots of restaurants and businesses in the area.
The air conditioning in our room did not work and they were unable to fix it. When we arrived at our room, the dishwasher was full of dirty dishes. The dishwasher did not work and they were unable to fix it. We were unable to use it for my son’s baby bottles. We had called twice prior to checking in to request a pack and play, and it was not in our room upon check in. The hotel key worked very irregularly in the elevator and when we requested a new key we were told “I guarantee it works” when it did not work. The complementary breakfast was great.
Great location. Mediocre management and front desk staff. The rooms are clean but the layout was awkward and small. Good for a SL. Good pool and hot tub. Breakfast was better than most comparable hotels. Tip: If you’re not a wealthy UPenn family the staff couldn’t be bothered with you. If you act like the place is beneath you or mention your kid attends UPenn you’ll get better service. Walkability: Within a short walk you can access: Conscience store, campus art museums, good restaurants, public transportation, coffee, bookstore, florist, meeting space, music venue…
