Every interaction I've had with officers from this department have been rude, uncaring, and flat out disrespectful. They have no concern for minors or their safety. I spoke with a supervisor in regards to the mishandling and inappropriate actions of one of their officers already. Sadly, it seems that this is the way that a large majority of their officers behave. An it seemed to be shrugged off as no big deal. They do not wear body cams and basically just take verbal complains and do nothing to follow up. We as citizens should feel safe and heard. These officers should protect our youth and other citizens not mistreat them and make them have a poor view of police officers. This causes people to not trust in the law. Do a better job HLPD! Provide appropriate training and build a better stronger community.
Just called, non-emergency, I just wanted them to check on a little old lady who crossed the middle of Goodman road railroad tracks near animal shelter by sticking her hand out and walking in front of traffic. She never even looked to see if cars were stopping. We all slammed on our brakes. It seemed out of place. The lady who answered the phone was rude from the moment I got on the phone. Couldn't be bothered by such a "simple" request for an officer to make sure the lady was fine. Told me "people" in Horn lake do that "all the time". I have lived in this area for 20 years! I know people cross the street but Evel Knievel wouldn't have attempted what this lady did. RUDE. UNCARING. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED by the lack of concern. Then calls me back & tries to defend herself!? Saying my partner said you wanted to speak with me... Nope, I just asked to speak with your supervisor. Hope y'all's grandma's aren't out walking today. It would be a shame if someone made sure she was good.
Love Southaven PD. Horn Lake, not so much. You hardly ever see them out and about, patrolling neighborhoods. Very sketchy and does not make you feel safe at all. Being so close to Memphis, I would think you all would be out and about more. Or are you leaving that job to Southaven once again?
The officers care more about educating than writing out citations. And being there when your world comes crashing down. And giving help with understanding and a sense of humour. They are human. And they show respect towards us citizens.
They don’t take anything seriously but traffic violations. I reported a vandalism crime that was caught on camera and the damage was over $1500!!! I called the non emergency number around 2:30 pm to do a follow up because I pressed charges, signed off on paperwork, turned in a estimate. She advised me I would have to contact the detective and the police department was not handling the case.
Professional and courteous was my experience with them unlike Southaven officers. Respect for all the officers who keep the city of Horn Lake MS safe.
Hire a New Horn Lake Intermediate Crossing Guard. I'm sure I'm not the only one complaing about the african american lady who blatantly disrespects parents in front of the teachers and students. Please do something about this. Horn lake police are great but this bad apple makes you guys look bad.
They do not investigate crimes at all. The officers destroyed critical evidence in a murder investigation and completely acted incompetently. Not a good experience at all.
Glad to see that a good man became Chief.
