Giving 4 stars for two reasons no one as gate when checked in. I had to circle twice to find my spot. The other reason is laundry room not usable under construction. The spot was wonderful level. It was very peaceful. I have 37ft class A. Loved my view. It was nice the other neighbors was not right next to you. Not sure about bathroom or anything. I didn't use pool or any of that just hung out at my spot and had relaxed visit.
We read several reviews concerning the Horseshoe Lake Campground in Clinton Indiana. We talked to others about it too. We did not hear very good reviews but decided to try it ourselves. We have a Georgetown GT5 34M5 about 38 ft. When we arrived we were greeted at the little office by a very nice lady who explained everything about the campground and we were assigned a site. The site was level. It was in the back but fairly good roads led us there. Dusty but hey, we are in a campground. We were very impressed with the sites being spacious as we drove back. Some lots backed up to the many lakes, which many annuals have reserved. But hey, if I lived close I would probably get an annual site too. Annuals were very friendly and most helpful with things to do in the area. We stayed 3 nights and it was peaceful and relaxing. Of course we were there during the week so we can’t comment about the weekend. We didn’t visit the pool area but info stated an adult evening swim, which we thought was awesome, if it is honored. Sorry kids but even parents need some down time! Bathrooms really need updated and vented! So hopefully you are self contained. There could be problems with mold and I can see why after having to make a pit stop after walking thru the park. This park could be a gem if management could get money from corporate to do the updates. Overall, we would rate it a 6-7 but man it could be a 10 for Thousand Trails! Debbie and Jerry McNeil
I kept telling myself I should take pictures but I was having so much fun playing games like dominoes and rummikub and bingo in the coffee house that I didn't stop to take pictures. The bathhouse shower was great and the residents were super friendly. They even took me to church with them, awesome
Beautiful campground, very quiet and well maintained. Self check-in made it easy. Site was assigned supposed to be a pull through but had to back into it because of turns. Beautiful trails for bikes and walks. We only stayed there one night but would love to come back. BEWARE, access to the road that leads to campground was a tough turn. We had to stop traffic and use both lanes to turn with our 41ft 5th wheel. Once on the road, turn into campground was easy.
I would love to give this campground a 5 star review, however it falls short in a number of areas. First of all, the restroom/shower facilities in sections A and B are in dire need of maintenance and cleaning. Secondly, the mini golf course and tennis courts are completely dilapidated and unuseable. Also, the main clubhouse was completely closed, and there were no activities going on. This was very disappointing since we were visiting the park in July and the park was full of campers on the weekends. The grounds themselves are very beautiful though, and the sites that aren't being sucked up by monthly tenants are spacious and equipped with full hookups and fire pits. There are tons of trails and lakes to explore and wildlife is abundant. Park location is great, too, and very tranquil. I hope Thousand Trails will spend some time and money on some much needed maintenance and staffing to make this park become a 5 star experience.
This park is absolutely beautiful! Some really good bike riding and hiking trails. The pool was very clean. We would give it more stars but A lot of amenities are not open or overgrown. We will definitely be back when in the area.
Really liked the location of this one. Love all the little fishing ponds, and hiking trails. Seems like 90% of the campground was taken up by all year round long term campers. And I'm guess this is why the clubhouse was closed and so was the pool and the mini golf course was overgrown and destroyed. Staff was nice
We loved this campground. I was concerned by the negative reviews, but we were very pleasantly surprised. We stayed for 1 week. During that time we had wonderful cell service through ATT and Verizon which provided us with quick internet. We both work on the road, so this was important. The majority of the sites appear to be full-timers, but they were all very friendly and well maintained. The laundry facilities were very clean and updated to accept cards and use an app which we greatly appreciated. We would definitely stay here again.
We absolutely loved our time at Horseshoe lakes. Susan was amazing and very helpful. Campground does have a lot of annual campers. Which if we lived closer we would have an annual site here as well. Grandson absolutely loved the pool and kayaking. Restrooms where very clean as was the family center and the quiet lounge. We will be back. Warning the campground has no control over..AT&T service does not work. If you need wifi get it before arriving at the campground.
This is a lovely park with lots of small ponds and wilderness to be explored. It is well maintained and the manager and staff are very friendly and helpful. There is no WiFi available throughout the park but is available in the coffee lounge and lodge. Pool is small but clean and laundry facilities are great. Comment to Thousand Trails corporate: it would be extremely helpful if the maps indicate seasonal/annual sites as it is deceptive looking at the maps and believing all that are shown are available for short term stays. Many campgrounds have limited sites available and those that are available are small or undesirable. This location is gorgeous and much better than other TT campgrounds overrun with golf carts, tacky permanent structures and seasonal people who don’t think they have to follow park rules which are rarely enforced anyway. We will definitely return to Horseshoe Lakes.
