Just getting ready to head home. We have been here 5 days and enjoyed it. The owners were great to us and I have a hard time believing some of the negative comments about them. The park is about like the state parks out west. If you want swimming pools and small sites this is not for you. The setting on the river is beautiful and peaceful so you have to entertain yourself. The fishing has been good. From our understanding the owners bought it almost 3 years ago and it was very neglected. They are bringing it back as they go. We cant’t wait to see it in another couple of years! We will definitely be back.
A very nice rustic setting. Because of frequent recent river flooding, which beautifully borders the entire 35 acres, the owner has had difficulty keeping up with road repair and grass cutting. I thoroughly enjoyed being there in the peaceful rustic riverfront property and would look forward to returning or recommending it to friends.
Okay, this is not the campground to take your kids to for a luxurious week of camping. It is lacking in many areas. The restrooms are not great, showers are no better. The grounds are in need of some TLC. Having said that, can you set up camp, enjoy the river and full hook up? Yes. Staff was friendly and accommodating. It's just more of a roughing it type of camp ground. GLAMPERS, steer clear, you will be dissatisfied. Me, my wife and 2 toddlers had a good time and lived to tell the tale. With some love and attention this place could be a gem.
I never write reviews but felt like this experience needed one. We did not not camp here and never will after our run in with the owner. My family and my two cousins’ families were tubing down the White River with our 12 kids between all three families. Our kids were getting tired so we were looking for a way to get off the river. We passed this small campground and found a landing after it so we got out there. The landing was so far away we didn’t even know it was part of the campground. I called an Uber and my cousin and I got a ride back to our trucks so we could pick up our families and tubes. As soon as we got everything loaded up and begin to back out, multiple vehicles pull up from sides boxing us in. This guy walks up to my window and asks me what we are doing on his private property. Realizing we were trespassing and assuming this guy was the owner, I politely apologized and explained to him our situation. I thought he was being understanding until he decided to threaten to send his German Shepherd after my kids if he ever saw us there again. I calmly told him that the threat was uncalled for and that we were just trying to leave. He then got very upset. He was shaking and throwing his hands around and cussing at me right in front of my kids. By the way, the oldest out of all twelve kids is my 11 year old daughter. At this point it was obvious I was not dealing with a rational person so I did not waste any more of my breath. I waited for the Jeep to move that was blocking me in and we left. I can’t believe this guy is really running a serious campground. It’s very small and run down. As we were pulling out, all the signs by the road said keep out, and road closed. There’s definitely not anything welcoming about it. I wonder if it’s more of a friends and family type place. We have a travel trailer and camp all the time. I have never seen a campground like this or met an owner who treats people like this. My advice would be STAY AWAY!!!
Similar experience to Blake. We pulled up for shelter during a lightning storm while kayaking the White River. The owner of this dump came barreling into the property and proceeded to threaten another family who had done the same. His wife then turned to my wife and spewed more threats. When we calmly tried to explain that we were trying to avoid lightning his response was, “that’s the weather. It’s not my fault.” He also tried to claim he owned the river in front of his campground. Later, when we retold our story to the kayak company they said he had brandished a firearm on another family in the same situation on a previous trip. Of course, we were not there for that event, but beware. Something is obviously not right with this individual. Our own little slice of Deliverance in Noblesville.
Very friendly and helpful. Couldnt get Into White River Campground, booked here and was so glad I did. River Bend was quiet, great camp sites, White River campers were crammed in like sardines. Road Into camp ground needs work, but if all you want is a great site and peace and quiet this is it.
I would avoid this place at all cost. We were early campers in the season and we're told by the owner that the showers wouldn't be open until the weekend. However, when we arrived all of the water was off in the bathrooms, and when they were turned on there was raw sewage leaking on the floor from the toilets. The power went out the first night from a bad connection. Also there was flood debris laying all around and it poked my toddler in the face in her stroller when we tried to go for a walk. My husband asked for a refund and the owner readily agreed, but he avoided us for a month, finally writing us a bad check for only part of the amount, which bounced, leaving us in trouble with our bank.
I only give this place one star cause I have to! I was in visiting from Michigan and decided to camp here. I took my son to use the ONLY toilet in the whole camp. It was covered in feces. I kindly asked them at 9:00 am to clean it, at 7:00pm it was still not cleaned, so when I complained I was kicked out of the campground! Not only that, but the shore near the river was full of broken glass, rusty nails, and broken concrete and asphalt. Which I tried posting pics of on here, if they are approved you will see for your self! I use to come here when I was younger and it WAS always well maintained, since they have new owners it's gone to hell! I will never be going back, not to mention I will be calling the health dept. First thing Monday morning! STAY AWAY!!!!
This was my late husband and my favorite summer time place to go on the weekends. We camped here for the past 15 years. However, the new owner has to more than double the seasonal camp fee which makes it impossible for me to enjoy. Most of the campers there enjoyed the natural state of the campground and river. It was a sorry end to the 2013 season as we moved my camper and boat home. I will miss you RiverBend almost as much as I miss my husband.
As a fulltimer I appreciate a friendly smile and bit of bantering when I arrive. The owner was a delight. Large campground that looks a little tired but well maintained. Watch out for the entry sign, its not very bright. And check before you come in, they were full of seasonals when I got here. For you Golfers, Purgatory Golf Course is just across the street. It is in good shape and aptly named. It is for sale, if you want a good CG, this is it. Oh yes, be careful at high water times, they do get some flooding here. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
