I took a friend there after having taking her to urgent care with terrible dehydration from a stomach virus. They triage her, put her back into the waiting room with no clue about when they were going to be able to bring her into a room. She got up out of the wheelchair and asked the concierge who did nothing but sit behind his computer and not interact with people in the waiting room at all if there was someplace for her to lay down why she waited he told her that there was couches in the lobby. When I asked How would we hear them if they came and called her. He said well one of you needs to stay here. I don’t know why he couldn’t have said why don’t you give me your name and if they call you I’ll come and get you because I’m not doing anything but sitting behind this desk. So finally, after about an hour and 20 minutes wait with my friend sleeping in the hallway off of the lobby and me sitting in the ER waiting room they called us in The nurse did not even walk us into the room. She pointed to which room was ours. My friend was really not well. I had to go out and ask for a blanket one male nurse was extremely accommodating and jumped up and showed me where I could get them in where I could get her more if they needed it but no one came into the room and said you can close the door, you can control the bed with this controller that was hidden from us. None of that was shared with us and when I asked if she could have some water, they refused and told me they were only two doctors on the floor and I couldn’t see at least 25 beds. All right we’re in for the long-haul I thought. About an hour and a half later an absolutely fantastic nurse practitioner, who I only remember her first name being Colleen came in was able to get a bag hung to get her rehydrated. Told us how we could turn the lights down control the bed close the door and if we needed anything else to make us comfortable why someone couldn’t have said that when they brought us into the room, it would’ve made us all feel less anxious and more cared for and the nurses were out chatting right in front of our room with obviously not enough to do I won’t be returning to the ER. I have had my time in hospitals, myself, and know that they could do a much better job. This is all about training.
The nurse who assisted me was very nice and competent. However, I am giving the facility 1 star. My room was old and dirty looking, hot with no air flow. I was told that the climate control was broken. No A/C - no ventilation of any kind, window did not open. Some very sick immunocompromised patients are here - yet most staff did not wear masks.
They were so good in the ER. Doctors and Nurses. It took them Nine hours to admit the Patient! Forget about calling. They’re not helpful and down right annoyed. The day Nurse saw my husband twice during the day. I asked at the Nurses station the name of his Doctor. The one lady said she couldn’t help me. I’d have to wait for the man on the phone. Who was behind a wall so I didn’t see. He was helpful. A tech But the same Nurse that said She Couldn’t Help me, told the tech the name of the P. A who took the doctor’s place. I was told the Doctor would be coming in. He’s making his rounds. 3 and a half hours later and still no Doctor. No P. A. And no Nurses. I do not recommend this hospital at all!! ER is okay if you don’t have to be admitted.
Baby Friendly Hospital- had a great experience delivering my baby at Kingston Hospital Marys Ave - new campus. Rooms are big and cozy. Nurses are very responsive and provided me everything I needed. Started my breastfeeding journey thanks to the helpful staff. Dr Keplinger took great care of me during labor. Maternity floor is very modern and food was excellent. I recommend this hospital for new moms
I came to the so-called “state of the arts” emergency room at Health Alliance of Kingston on July 13 experiencing excruciating stomach pain. There I sat for two hours and I received no assistance even after notifying the front desk of my pain. The answer we received was that patients are called in the order they arrive! What a ridiculous method is that? Finally after a two hour waiting we left and rushed to Northern Dutchess where within 15 minutes of my arrival I received life saving help involving surgery for a rupture in the small intestine.Never again we will set foot in your “state of the arts” facility !!!
My son was here for a few days. He said nurses take over an hour to respond to calls for assistance. We could not find any staff in the hall. Finally one nurse on her cell phone said she could not help. The doctor said they wanted to send my son to Albany but could not find an ambulance for over 2 days. We were called and told he was being discharged....hours later here still waiting. You could die here and no one would know. Clearly understaffed. So much for the Health alliance and corporate medicine in America.
Overall, my experience was pretty good. Went to ER with severe abdominal pains on Sunday and the staff showed what they are made of. Nursing was quick with testing and results came back in a timely fashion. When you go in, you're getting years and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of knowledg all packed into your moment. After moving to Spelman three unit, this exemplary care continued. The head nurse with long black curley hair let me know everything I needed to know to make the best descisions for care. There were many involved with this who chose to listen to my concerns and willing to guide me through this process of understanding my condition. It wasn't perfect, considering the er aid who put a wrist band on my left while reaching from my right and leaned her arm on my abdomen causing greater discomfort. Or the male night nurse who checked my IV port and for some unknown reason pressed down on the needle for more than 5 seconds, causing it to bleed through tape. Both these instances I definately had to advocate for myself and not allow "abuses" to occur. I truly want to thank all those who displayed the professionalism I'm accustomed to and would expect in a difficult industry, enduring so much with the staff shortages they face. Hopefully, corporate will come to terms with this for everyones' sake.
Where to start. They seem polite here, but honestly they clearly hate being there. They were cold and distant, and obviously placating people more than helping them in any capacity. It took a long time to be seen in the ER and there was little to no communication on what was happening with tests or treatment options - all while my fingers were turning blue from blood loss and I was unable to move or feel my limbs. I had to ask multiple times for a saline drip to get my fluids back up - again, while turning blue and feeling increasingly faint. I asked for anxiety meds and/or pain meds. I was told "we will ask the doctor". I received neither and the doctor didn't say whether she intended to give me any or not at any point. Just, complete confusion the whole time. I was finally given an IV and that stabilized me. Then it ran out and I sat there asking for a nurse to either replace or disconnect the damn thing for an hour. They eventually did so and I was told the tests they did "looked normal" - no mention of what exactly those tests were by the way - to follow up with someone and discharged - and stopped on my way out because in the whole 4-5 hour endeavor they'd never checked me in in the first place. So if you have a choice, go somewhere else. They don't care about you unless you're giving birth.
Terrible experience - My fiance was having a medical emergency; slurring words, could not walk, getting physically sick, dizzy, etc. We arrived and were questioned at length - given his young age, they were under the assumption that he was on drugs. Not only did they not give immediate assistance, they had me put him in a wheelchair myself he's 6'4 and weighs over 200 pounds and wait in the waiting room with other who seemed to be there for the flu. Multiple staff members walked by as he was in crisis, and the only reason they saw him as soon as they did was because I went up to the front desk and expressed the severity of the situation for the second time. It turned out that he was having a stroke and needed to be airlifted to Westchester Medical - had I not gone up and demanded we be seen, it could have ended far worse. We would never recommend going to this hospital - your life will be on the line.
Excellent experience with intake, Dr. Valdez and Nurse Jess. Quickly diagnosed, filled prescription and even helped in follow up call due to snag out of our control. Kind and gentle to my 9 year old child who arrived in pain. Also beautiful new facility.
