Run, Shelia and Val both money hungry people. While I realize this is a business, the unprofessionalism was very profound. Do not take your service there. In fact anyone connected to this these people should also be looked at with a side eye. Too bad that I hade to choose one star, because they deserve absolutely nothing. Cassandra Hintson
These people are vile and only see dollar signs. What kinda mortician has a giant portrait of herself in the waiting area?! Shelia Reid is without a doubt a crooked cruel and cold-hearted greedy leech; Comparable to a mosquito. Read up on this funeral home, the whole administrative team was indicted on fraud charges in the 90s INCLUDING SHELIA REID. Please go elsewhere if you want your loved ones a proper burial.
My niece was taken advantage of by this lousy funeral home. They were unprofessional didn't communicate about the viewing of my nephew had to keep calling was put on hold. I wouldn't ever recommend them ever. They should have no stars.
Terrible Service. My nephew died my family & I decided to have his funeral here it was the worst decision we could have made. He looked nothing like himself this was very disappointing. The closer we got to the casket we also smelled a unpleasant odor. Sheila was very unprofessional. She’s a money hungry green goblin who looks like a alien who shows no empathy a empty soul. Stay away!
The Staff was understanding, patient, helpful and comforting. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Thank You, House of Branch.
House of Branch Funeral Home did a fantastic Job for my cousin Beverly Faye Everett on yesterday!
Horrible….Will lie to you DO NOT do business with them. Shoulda known any funeral home advertising caskets in the window. Wouldn’t be the right place to deal with!!!
The service was great but I was emotionally exhausted from the passing of my mother and brother and was not thinking clearly and I was told that I was just supposed to pay for the burial of the two so I did that and when it was time to get the balance from the burial I was told that I went over I feel that I was trick and taken advantage of but I just let go and let God handle that situation people see money and get greedy but I was told something totally different different
Terrible service. I’m writing this after receiving services for my mother 5 years ago. Stay away, save your money don’t support them. I’ve had enough time to vent my anger, and I still believe that I was scammed. Please bring your business elsewhere, maybe around individuals who care about the death of your loved ones.
I am writing this rating on line because I see some other ratings regarding House of Branch Funeral Home and its owner Ms. Shelia Reid. I really hate to see when people use the Internet as a form of cyber bullying and venting. It is not justifiable at all. Sometimes we as a people can be our own worst enemy. I have nothing to gain for writing my comment because I do not know the owner Ms. Shelia Reid or her son. I had only met them a couple of weeks ago and both the mother and the son were very nice and kind to me and very professional. It is my hope that when people do their research regarding funeral home services in the Lawndale Community that they don’t believe everything they read on the internet because some of it may not be truthful in fact, sometimes when a client is disgruntle, they sometimes go about and give bad misrepresentation. On Friday March 15, 2015 I went to Branch Funeral Home located at 3125-27 West Roosevelt in Chicago’s North Lawndale community and I met with the owner Ms. Shelia Reid and her son. The two of them were so very nice to me and it was as if I had known them all of my life. As I was waiting in the office with the owner Ms. Shelia Reid, another customer came in to view her love one’s body and was several hours early than what the policy is to view the body. Ms. Shelia Reid accommodated the customer who had driven all the way across town to have funeral services for her love one. The customer was so elated and started reminiscing about how she knew the original owner, Mr. Branch and how he was such a pillar in the community and how she was happy to know that the legacy has passed on to Ms. Shelia Reid successfully. All in all, the customer was very pleased with how her love one looked and how she looked just as if she was asleep and how she looked just like herself when she was alive. So my final conclusion is that Ms. Shelia Reid and her son are very professional and every day that I went back to the funeral home, Ms. Shelia Reid had a staff indoors and outdoors attending to the grounds and vehicle and lobby. Everyone was very professional even the guy that was shoveling the snow. Sometimes when we as entrepreneurs hire within an urban community such as a North Lawndale, we sometimes hire elements that derive in our communities. However, this is not the case with Branch Funeral Home. Ms. Reid does have an urban staff in an urban community and it is not her fault that her business is in an urban community that has been written off. Ms. Reid desires to take that entire block and transform it into a hospitality community to enhance Branch Funeral Home. She is at this very moment and point and time trying to get the resources she needs to develop that area. I say that instead of throwing stones at her, support her because Shelia Reid is a phenomenal business woman who is a master at her trade and have been serving the North Lawndale community in the same location since 1990. That speaks volume to how she is committed to her people.
