Booked at noon for a 2 pm session. When I get there, I’m told that there was a break in that has occurred either the last night or the night before last and the cable would be down for the entire day. Whatever. It is what it is. They issue me a refund and I go on with the rest of my day. It would have been nice though if they had blocked off or cancelled the sessions online for that day so people wouldn’t book those spots and show up expecting to wakeboard. At the very least, they could have called and saved me the time and gas I spend driving there.
Wakeboarding here was pretty fun, but a few issues soured the experience. 1st: we arrived 15 minutes early for our asked time 4pm, but weren't given rentals until around 4:20, and were told we'd get the time back on the back end. That never happened. 2nd: they were short on rentals, and even though there weren't many people there at our time, I had to use a beginner board for most of my time even though I paid $10 extra to not have to do that. 3rd: the line shut down twice due to "overheating" and both were 15 minutes waits. Between those, and the 20 minute late start time, we were only able to wakeboard for 1 hour and 10 minutes of our allotted 2 hours. I learned that I like this type of wakeboarding. It's nearly as fun as behind a boat, and much cheaper and simpler. However, I won't be back to this specific location.
We visited the aqua park at Hydrous in Allen, and it was not the greatest experience. One of the attached transition pieces was not connected properly, so a kid fell in between the two units. The flaps covered his head and he was not visible. Myself and another participant tried pulling him up, but his life jacket was caught underneath the two units, holding him under the water. His mouth was submerged. It was chaotic and scary. Unfortunately, the "lifeguards" employees were on their phones. It's kind of hard to rescue someone, when you're engrossed in Instagram or Snapchat. Had we not been there to see him fall in between the units, we would not have been able to locate him, and he could've drowned. The employee's response was that the waiver states you must be a strong swimmer to play. However, it's kind of difficult to swim while wedged in between/under the inflatables. I spoke with the manager on duty, and he said that they know that the piece is broken and has been for a long time; also, that it's very expensive to fix, and it takes some time to order it to get it from Germany. Something even more pricy would be a lawsuit from a family whose child drowned because of the same reason. I suggested at least duct taping the two pieces together, so it will not happen to somebody else. It is extremely unsafe. In addition to a kid almost drowning, the inflatable structures were scorching hot. All of the participants got burned. More than one sprinkler which hardly even reached any of the units would be better to keep the inflatables cool. We found a bowl on the bank and used that to pour water on inflatables for cooling. Not ideal. So, F- for the aqua park. Avoid.
We took training session for my elder son. But whatever told in training is completely different when he goes to main cable. Waste of money and time. I suggest to start with knee boarding first. My younger son took main cable without any training class and he was able to do it in first shot itself. Price for entry: $55 Ticket type: First time-20 mins training class +1 hour main cable 2nd time - 2 hour main cable session
Fun time, but can be difficult to learn. Minimal instruction unless you pay for lessons, but other people who were here were helpful as well. Be prepared to walk awhile if you fall off :
Favorite cable park in Dallas. The staff also makes the experience 10/10
The staff is great and we had lots of fun. The kids were extremely exhausted after 2 hours. Thank you! P.S. It is also dog friendly.
Family group reservation for the training lake was super awesome 1-hour, but make sure you make the reservation at least 24 hours in advance for the best experience since they try to staff the training lake in advance. After a misunderstanding during my first visit that left me irritated, I had a very professional and understanding discussion with the manager Garret. He made me feel wanted as a customer and he was even accommodating on a special request I had when I returned with my family. This a super fun family activity that anyone 7 or up can learn on the training lake, and it will make an awesome, unique memory even if you only went once or twice. Ask for Jayton as an instructor because he was fun and helped my kids learn quick and really enjoyed themselves. Just be aware that the training lake is pretty slimy around the bank, so be mentally prepared for that :- Not really a big problem though.
For an hour and 57 minutes I face planted and face planted.... Fortunately it's a 2 hour deal! The staff there helped immensely, and in my very last attempt I made it up and even made the full lap! 100% will go again! The staff was wonderful and the other people there were super helpful with advice.
Originally, I loved this place. I gave it five stars and I meant it. I actually still do love this place, but after spending probably 100 or so hours there this summer I've learned of a few problems. The people who work there day-to-day are amazing. Some of them may be young, but that doesn't mean they don't know what they're doing. They are super helpful and accommodating and truly make the whole experience a blast for everybody. That being said... the dude who runs this place has made some really bad decisions. The place has been slowly declining for a while, partly because it's tucked so far back and partly bc the owner doesn't seem to care that much. He is very cheap..like really cheap. In fact, he recently stopped buying water for the employees. You can get a pack of 48 or so waters at Sam's or Costco for less than $4. He's actually that cheap. If this is how he treats his employees you can only imagine how he treats the park. There are a lot of things that need to be fixed or brought up to date around the property. Starting with maybe the water level that's been low forever? He is extremely out of touch with the people who actually run this place and I think it will slowly run the business into the ground. I really hope that in the next coming seasons he realizes this and starts to listen to the people who work there and know what the park needs to succeed. It really could be an amazing place, but the boss has got to step and make it happen.
