Description

Hands-on activities and interactive games keep children entertained for hours in Imagination Place, located within the Hardin Center for Cultural Arts. Children learn how a city works through interactive play in the KidsTown USA exhibit. Imagination Place and its exhibits are primarily geared towards children from toddlers to third grade.

Mission

Imagination Place Children's Museum operates under the auspices of the Gadsden Cultural Arts Foundation and enriches the lives of children by sparking creativity and imagination to build the foundation for a life of learning. The museum is committed to providing exhibits and activities in the arts and sciences that promote imagination, exploration and discovery. As a children's museum, Imagination Place provides interactive learning environments through participatory, hands-on exhibits and complementary educational programs to stimulate young minds.

A great playful museum for kids to join the adult world for the afternoon! A construction site, a restaurant, a grocery store, and a bank - they’re all there to explore. We stopped in for a short visit "kill time" with the kids before an event at the Falls and we were blown away at all the things there for the kids to do! We held my daughters 2nd birthday party here today, we rented the party room for 2 hours from 2-4 and we were only allowed 15 mins before to setup. With how much money it was to rent this for 2 hours and NOTHING was included for a party and I mean NOTHING was ridiculous. We opened gifts and at 4:01 someone rudely told my husband in front of people “y’all were supposed to be out of here at 4…you’ve got 5 more minutes to clean and get out.” I am not mad as it is our fault for going over the time slot, I’m mad because he was so rude about it. For $150 just to rent the dang room is crazy to me. On the website it was listed that included in the price a staff member would help setup and clean up….nobody helped. Out of the 3 staff members we interacted with….2 of them were rude. I will never host a party here again until there is new management or something. And to the 1 staff member that was kind. Thank you.
First time going! Loved it! My family is big into using your imagination do this place was perfect. Cute little store, dress up, kitchens, dr office, bank. All kid size! Like an indoor playground for kids. Four year old absolutely loved the place spent over 6 hours there without getting bored. Easily could have occupied another day there if needed. I gather some of the areas/simulations change over time, so depending on when you go there may be slight variations from the pictures posted. Some of the areas have more appeal than others. Top rated ones would probably be the construction area, hospital, clubhouse, train, and pirate room. Obviously this facility has been there for a while, so parts may seem dated, but the kids don't mind or notice and it seems to be kept clean. I was surprised by how low traffic was even on a Saturday during a holiday weekend. Seemed to get busier closer to lunch and thereafter. It's a great relief from the heat during summer and plenty of places for adults to sit or stand to monitor your kids nearby. The creators of this place put a lot of thought and effort into this place for kids, and it's really a hidden gem. A lot to stimulate the minds and imagination of youngsters.
This place is such a wonderful experience for children. It offers several different activities for kids to use their imagination. It's also air conditioning, so when it's hot or rainy outside, this is a great place to bring kids to play. Kids had a blast, cool things to play with, but the AC isn't so great, and it was a little too hot, especially since my wife has a heart condition that makes her pass out when she's too hot. They are closed 1-2 pm for "cleaning" but we got there about 1:30 and there wasn't anybody inside cleaning, and when the worker opened it up again at 2 we were the first ones in and it looked like they hadn't cleaned it very well, if at all. That said, it kept the kids busy and they had a great time, and if we didn't have to leave because of the heat they would've stayed and played a lot longer.
