Do not waste your time nor your money. They are definitely NOT the same! I can't believe I bragged on this business! The food was old! They didn't even have fish, or chicken on the bar... ... Being a food critic... I took a Picture which shows old green beans mixed with fresh beans...and when I tasted the meat it tasted old. And on 4.29.22 my sister, her husband and myself went there expecting to receive fresh food and especially vegetables. We received nothing of the sort! We all were very disappointed. As a matter of fact, I was sick to my stomach that evening, night and the next day after eating there. And so was my sister! Another elderly lady who sat behind us and her husband was disappointed as well. This place needs to be INSPECTED and SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATELY!!!
My advice would be not to eat here. The gentlemen at the front although not rude is very unfriendly. As the rest of the staff is as well. I ordered the steak and onions with broccoli added. It was absolutely horrible. The onions were like mush, the meat extremely tough and the broccoli was very sweet. It was a waste of $15. I also witnessed them calling the police on someone trying to return their wrong order. Do not spend your money at this place.
My husbands and I visited o. 12-9-17 food was cold!!! Told the waitress and she then proceeded to get the manager and we explain the situation to her also the Manager became irate and SCREAMED at us telling us the “ you people always want something for free” and to get out we we’re not welcome anymore. While throwing her hands in the air and getting in my personal space. Bc her food was cold I then proceeded to call the Police. I have NEVER been treated so rudely and disrespectful. I will never recommend this place to anyone!!!!
Cold food. The foods that should have been hot were cold! I tried a little bit of everything and they were cool or lukewarm when they should have been kept at a much higher tempurature. The food was lacking in flavor. It was spacious and the inside entry way was pleasant but the food was a disappointment.
Poor service! Trying to take my boys out to eat. The lady gave us to go trays. After we observe the buffet, I put a little on my tray. After I looked at the food closely. The main noodles. Was super dry. So that further let me know. That they hadn't changed out any new Pan's or food. That food was sitting there since 12pm rush hour.. My family an I can at 5pm. I left the food there an went out the door. The manager stopped me an told me, since I put the food on the tray. I had to pay for it. "No" ma'ma. No I want pay for any kind of food that has been under a heat light for 5 hours. People being coming in coughing sneezing and God knows what else on this food. I told her I'm not paying for nothing an walked out of the restaurant.... FYI that's how people get sick. An food poison. I might not be Chinese. But I do know what that type of food you cannot leave it out for No 5 hours. I will never go bk
Their food is decent, nothing really special. When eating there one Sunday afternoon for their buffet, it was really hard to find a handful of stuff I like. Their drinks consist of mostly sodas when I really could have gone for a lemonade or orange juice. The owner or whoever the male is that's always at the front counter can be a little snappy. I would assume he works around the clock everyday; so, I understand. I love their Shrimp and Broccoli rice. So, one day, I thought I'd try their Shrimp and Peas rice. I specifically pointed that out to the owner as he rung me up. However, I received Shrimp and Green beans, which I previously had before, but did not like as the beans were hard rather than soft. I go back inside to return it and the owner tried to make it seem like that was what I originally ordered. I took the menu and opened it up in front of him to show him what I clearly pointed to. He looked perplexed and shook his head that they did not have that on the menu. So, why have this in the menu option in the first place? What can you trust and not trust when you're looking at the menu? He tried to entice me by saying that what I already had was good and that I'll enjoy it. It was so insulting because this was not what I paid for, and he tried to get me to walk out with something I did not originally want. Why would you treat a customer like that? But I defended myself and he eventually pouted with the bag to the back to finish my order. At that point, I really should have requested a refund and spent my money elsewhere. After reading one other comment, I am a person of color as well, and have always felt unwelcomed in settings like this. I'm kind of going to take a break from this store for a while, especially since they are a bit expensive. **Update** Just this past month, my mother went there again. She loves their shrimp fried, but her encounter with the lady that works at the cashier was very snappy at her. These owners seem to think that they can just speak to customers any way they please. They probably don't care much for their own company reviews or the impressions they leave on their customers, especially black customers. I had warned my mother about this and now she kind of sees what I'm talking about. She said she won't be spending her money there again anytime soon.
the FOOD was AWFUL & COLD, I TOLD the waitress, she said to stir it, because they just opened. she was concerned about wasting food, he'll im concerned about wasting money. all of it was cold, u will b sick if u eat there! & they don't xare,
The owner or the older gentle at the front of the restaurant is very rude and snappy. I went here recently with my family. We are people of color and I did not take him insinuating that we we're all going to eat and leave without paying. He came out from behind the register every five minutes pretending to clean up to watch us and make sure that we paid. I thought this was very disrespectful. I even heard him ask one of the waitresses if my cousin who was with me paid for her meal because she left earlier. The food isn't all that great either. The sushi was not fresh, it looked like it had been sitting out for days. and I spotted at least 2 cockroaches while I was there. I have been coming to this restaraunt sense I was a little girl. Their service used to be great. But Imperial Wok has taken a turn for the worst. Despite all this I still paid for the food. And I didn't get a "thank you" no smile or anything from him when I left. He just told me my total and slapped my change on the counter when he was finished ringing me up and walked off. I won't be visiting again.
I was a regular customer until today. I visited to get two carry out plates. I went to the buffet and almost everything was empty and dried up. So in a polite manner I ask the female manager or owner is it possible to get the buffet replenish. She came over look at the food and said they were switching to the dinner menu. So she started stirring the old food. So I had a scoop of rice on each plate and decided I did not want the old food that was out all day. Instead of her trying to get more fresh food out she told me I had wasted her food. Last time I checked rice is about two dollars for a small bag and I had two scoops of cooked rice...wasted. ..really. She will probably dump that same rice back on the buffet when nobody is looking. I will not pay for rudeness. Signed, Never Going Back
DO NOT GO TO THIS Restaurant. The Manager is EXTREMELY RUDE and very DISRESPECTFUL to the Elderly Customers. My Best Friend An Elderly Senior Citizen and I are weekly regular customers there and have previously recommended this place to several other people. On yesterday, we went there during the lunch hours. After eating and upon approaching the Manager to pay for our bill/check; the Manager very rudely denied my friend the stated Senior Citizen Discount. My friend who is a very nice person; being 73 years old, immediately provided her LA Drivers License for the Manager to verify. The Manager abruptly and rudely told my Elderly friend “YOU ATE TOO MUCH FOOD”, so I will not give you no Senior discount”; without ever looking at my friend’s driver’s license. The Manager then very abruptly snatched my Credit Card and charged me for two 2 meals at the full price without my friend’s Senior discount. During this time he was violently making hand gestures towards my friend. So without hesitation, my friend and I left the restaurant very displeased and disappointed. I hardly feel that a mere $.70 cent Senior Citizen discount is worth such Rude and Disrespectful behavior. We will notify the Better Business Bureau, Social Media as well as vastly discourage other people from dining at Imperial Wok, Bert Kouns. Please avoid dining at Imperial Wok.
