Shana Tabor, a New Hampshire native, relocated to NYC shortly after graduating high school. After receiving a degree in Jewelry Design from FIT and gaining professional experience by hand crafting unique pieces along with mass market design, Tabor realized her burning desire for something more fulfilling. In 2003, Tabor threw caution to the wind (along with her professional career) and by 2004 she had started her own collection of jewelry aptly named In God We Trust.
By 2005, IGWT saw steady sales, a growing clientele, and high demand for Tabor’s cutting edge designs. It was at that point, with the loving guidance and financial help of her brother, toy designer Nate Tabor, that Shana was presented the opportunity to open the first retail location of IGWT in Brooklyn, New York. During late 2005, Tabor added apparel to the mix, and was hand-producing multiple pieces of each style on her own. After realizing success in the apparel market, Tabor began manufacturing apparel collections on a small scale in the NYC garment district.
In 2007, IGWT expanded to a SoHo location, then in 2008 added a location on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. It was in 2009 that the doors opened to the IGWT store/studio in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, followed in 2011 by Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The most recent addition, HELLO IGWT, opened in Portland, Oregon just last spring. The stores in Soho, LES, and Wythe Avenue have since closed.
Inspired by everyday life, Tabor’s collections, whether clothing, jewelry, or interior design, embody her traditional New England upbringing, along with her obsession with collections, everything vintage, and her irreverent, often dark-witted humor.
Since its inception, IGWT has evolved into a multifaceted brand, comprised women’s Apparel, jewelry and accessories, private label and commitment collections, a full e-commerce website, as well as the newest collection Beth, a new women’s apparel line consisting of simple, ready to wear modern basics.
IGWT prides itself on manufacturing all of their designs exclusively in the USA. Currently all design and production of the IGWT jewelry collections is done in-house in Greenpoint, and the apparel collections are produced either in the NYC garment district, or in-studio at Greenpoint.
Tabor continues to be a strong supporter of other brands that have like-minded business goals. With this in mind, Tabor stocks the IGWT locations with other designers coinciding with her homespun aesthetic, such as Baggu, DS & Durga and Areaware. Relationships such as these have also allowed IGWT to participate in creating exclusive and exciting collaborations with other designers and artists.
As of 2017, IGWT will have been in operation for 14 years and every moment has been awesome. We look forward to the thrills and chills of the next 14!
