I have been a life long customer of Jack's Bicycle Center and would recommend them for Kona and Giant Mountain bikes in Bellingham. They also have a great selection of E-Bikes and they even repair E-Bikes, my Electric Unicycle now 4 times and they will work on OneWheels and other Electric devices. Talk to Kent and Ryan and they will get you pointed in the right direction!
Jack’s is a gem of a local bike shop. As someone who comes in to a shop primarily for help with technical service headset pressing, crown race replacement, etc. they are always willing and happy to lend a hand. Staff is VERY knowledgeable and quick and has helped me with various issues on the spot, they also have a good inventory of random parts which helped me get an older bike back on the road. Furthermore Jack’s isn’t pretentious whatsoever; it is a group of friendly folks who are really good at wrenching. I don’t go anywhere else in town anymore.
We rented helmets from Jack’s. My boyfriend was severely injured while mountain biking broke his back, neck, sternum and both elbows. He also punctured his spine and his left leg is immobile. When his son explained why he was returning the helmet ONE day late , the staff member didn’t show any sympathy and charged us a late fee. I think reasonable people make exceptions.
I biked a lot as a kid but I haven't in years, and was ready to start up again! Jack's was very responsive to my questions over email, and made great recommendations. I stopped in this evening, tried out some bikes and was out the door with a bike + bike rack in less than an hour! The staff were all friendly and welcoming - there wasn't any sort of "bike snobbery" in our interactions even when I clearly haven't been on two wheels in a while!. Thanks for a great experience!
My sister and I are avid geocachers. Today we set out to tackle a power trail many geocaches placed I borrowed a bro’s bike already which the staff easily serviced. Then my sister needed to rent one. They were so helpful and accommodating! Also very informed of the local biking trails such Interurban. Sean, the tech, and the woman didn’t introduce myself, don’t know her name was curious about what we did ... showed pictures and videos. ALL your bicycle needs can be met here.
We got great, low key, no pressure help when we went to test a bike we we were interested in. We bought two Giant e-bikes back in May 2019 and we've been riding them non-stop since we got them. We LOVE our Giant e-bikes. A few days ago I thought I detected an issue so I took the bike in. Jack's did a thorough diagnostic and tune-up and gave me back a shiny, clean bike today. There were no problems. I rode it home and am so happy we chose Jack's for our e-bikes. The staff are super friendly and helpful.
I was super interested in purchasing an e-bike Giant Explore-E. However, you can't just test ride them, you have to rent them for a minimum of 4 hours. I work full time and only was interested in an hour or two, but they said I needed to rent for 4 hours minimum, although price would go towards purchase if I got that far. After about 30 minutes, I went back to the shop as it was riding super hard and I really felt like every single bump was killing me and it didn't appear the forks were that great. The guy took one look at the forks, told me there was dust on them so they were working. I went back out. Not more than 20 minutes later, the chain fell off as I was crossing a paved rode. I walked it back to the store for 10 minutes. One of my questions, was specifically, will the chain come off because I neither know nor care to know how to re-attach a chain. I have owned a Specialized bike for over 5 years and never had the chain come off while riding. So I returned it to the store, and they had to "check it over for damage" before they would check me back in. Nobody seemed concerned that I had to walk the bike back, was interested in my feedback, or offered me a refund after my less than 90 minute test drive. On to another bike shop! Very poor customer service.
We went to like 5 b bicycle shops here in Bellingham. And this one was by far the best! I got my kids nice bikes. I am a happy customer. I got two bike locks, but they don't fit around the bikes when I try to lock them up, I'm looking to return them or exchange them!
I went in knowing only that I wanted to start mountain biking. Mitch spent a good amount of time with me. He patiently explained the difference of component quality and how it relates to price and maintenance. He also was honest and encouraged me towards a more affordable bike. It was a great experience for someone who was nervous about being looked down on or talked down to. He made me feel informed, comfortable and no pressure to make a sale. Edit: After 2 months of research and seeing other dealers I bought my bike from Jack's. I felt the future support and the service was worth it. I have zero regrets and many of my biking friends say I bought an amazing bike for the price and that Jack's is a solid and worthwhile group of folks to rely on.
We searched all around town for a very long time, seeking both new and used bikes, and we were pretty specific with our needs. We're not mountain bikers or road bikers, so we wanted something in between. Most bike shops tried to steer us away from what we wanted, and Jack's had the exact bikes we were after, satisfying our biking needs and our budget. When our bikes came in, they phoned us and said bikes are in and assembled. We took public transit to get there, and then picked up our bikes and rode them home! Rhonda gave us excellent service, from actual bike sizing to helmet fitting to seat adjusting to mounting lights for us, even installing the basket! These bikes are light, and so comfortable, and we are able to ride with ease compared to our older, heavier mountain bikes. I'm super impressed with the quality of the Giant Momentum bike and could not have asked for better service! I want to add that since we were on foot, they took all our packaging and disposed of it all for us, I think that goes above and beyond great service! We will be using only Jack's for all our future bike needs.
