Open six days a week, the Library in Sylva serves Jackson County's full-time and seasonal residents with the latest best-sellers, movies, music, free internet access & wi-fi, comfortable reading & study areas, great children's space, information center, wireless internet, and magazines & newspapers.

Through our parent organization, Fontana Regional Library, we also offer access to library collections across the state of North Carolina. In addition, we offer free eBooks, eAudio books, and eMagazines, access to academic databases, free drivers' education resources and more- all you need is a library card!

This library is amazing especially for a town the size of Sylva. Fabulous building, lots of books, great children's area, friendly staff, and an amazing view of the town to boot!

A combination of grand architecture, stunning views, friendly staff, and well maintained shelves. What a lovely library!

The most beautiful library I’ve ever seen. Today my family and I were able to get some paper notarized at this library with the friendliest staff you can imagine.  Such kindness and consideration was displayed by our very helpful Public Notary.  Since there’s a Pandemic that exist outside these walls, this was quite a surprise.  I highly recommend making a visit to this library anytime.  Even though the world today is Google savvy, I wouldn’t hesitate to source information or help from this place.  Thank you again Jessica Philyah!

Beautiful structure, good selection, good wifi. The library is one of my favorite places to chill.

I Am Just Like Steve. What A Great Library. Thank You So Much. Cool Air Conditioning On The Second Floor, Near The Coveted Work Station. The Whole Building Might Even Have Wi-Fi. Wow. You Can Even See The Police Department And Hear Church Bells If You Park On The Top Lot. It Overlooks The Entire City.  As a combat veteran, I also really appreciate all the time and energy the maintenance crew spends on the patriotic displays.  Go ARMY.

Friendly staff!!! Great to see them open even in the covid craziness. They had a great system set up where you make an appointment ahead of time and then get to stay for 45 minutes. They alert on a speaker when the session is ending. I thought it was so smart! Kudos to them! Very clean and enjoyable place to visit! The outside is so beautiful and the inside is nice too! Just browsing while in town, but would love to return!

Have Driven By This Historical Building All My Life And Never Been In. That Changed When I Had To Go There While Getting My Taxes Done By AARP One Afternoon. Magnificent Library, Helpful Staff, Airy And Comfortable,Glorious Architecture, And Incredible Views Overlooking Sylva And The Blue Ridge Mountains. I Found Some Books On Family Surnames And NC History That Pleasantly Passed The Time While Waiting For My Appointment. I Will Definitely Return.

Great place to visit. Lots of history in this small town.  Try to run up the steps to get a great view of this small town.
