I came to have surgery set up through my PCP and the waiting room was pretty crowded upon arrival. I thought the staff was efficient and friendly and it truly amazed me how much has to be done for each patient. Staff worked together like a well-oiled machine. We'd all like to be taken care of immediately, but life isn't always like that so patience is a virtue. Every employee there, regardless of title, has a job and they do it well. I was in and out in under 24 hours and everyone there was pleasant and appeared to genuinely care. Shout outs to Lyda, Dean, Tara, Gina and Surgeon Laura Chanlatte among the many that made this experience a pleasant one.
Amazing hospital. I went here at 4:00 in the morning in agonizing pain. Staff up front was friendly they immediately got me in. Between the nurses the cleaning staff the doctors I cannot say enough great stuff about them. They listened they were kind they were professional they did their tests. I had to go in there with my 10-year-old son because at 4:00 in the morning I couldn't get a hold of his father, they were great with him got him a drink along with warm blankets. Turns out I ended up having an 8 mm kidney stone so they admitted me. My child was allowed to come up with me until his grandmother got there to pick him up. Initially my surgery wasn't until 6: 00pm then they changed it to 5: 00pm, and then at 1:30 in the afternoon they asked me if I would like to go in because they had a cancellation. They got me in placed a stent the doctors and nurses and anesthesiologist all amazing, helped calm my nerves and anxiety...I only worry about what I said as I was coming out of the Twilight- I have no recollection of it but I'm just hoping I was nice I cannot say enough great things about this hospital. I have no idea why they have such a low rating, they are amazing.
I took my mother here after she fell down her steps. She had an injured right ankle and left knee. The ER took X-rays and determined that she had multiple fractures in her ankle and a badly bruised knee. The attending PA prescribed her a boot, walker, medication for swelling, and a follow up with an orthopedic specialist. The nurse came with a child walker that was not the correct height. Upon asking for assistance another large male nurse told me to “relax”, when I was not in the least worked up, I was simply asking for the priory medical equipment. Eventually a kind and capable nurse Emma provided my mother with a walker that was appropriately sized. We were discharged and told that her prescriptions were called into the local pharmacy. As it was past the pharmacy’s operating hours we knew this would be something that would need to be picked up the following day. The following day upon calling the pharmacy my mother discovered that nothing had been called in. After calling the ER back they told her they’d call it to another pharmacy that was able to deliver. Reminder: she broker her foot and bruised her knee - she is unable to drive. After 8 hours of waiting the new pharmacy tells my mother that nothing has been called in and unfortunately they are closing for the day. My mother then calls the ER Back where an unprofessional representative of the ER tells her that he didn’t call the prescriptions in as “his computer crashed”. He stated very rudely that the prescription was at the ER and she could come pick it up. I’ve been to veterinarian offices and third world country doctors offices who have better bedside manners and act in a more professional capacity than this establishment. I wouldn’t recommend Jefferson Hospital to my worst enemy!
If the option for zero stars was available, that is what I would choose. Currently waiting in the ER for my daughter to be seen.. have been here for 2 hours and still have not seen a doctor. I do not understand the way things are done here, but it certainly is not caring/compassionate or efficient. This is a joke. I grew up in this area, and Jefferson has always been my family’s hospital of choice for emergency and doctors. They used to actually get you into the ER in a decent amount of time.. you were seen by doctors and nurses, blood drawn, testing.. all with attentive healthcare employees.. now it seems cold and machine like. Do better Jefferson, this is very disappointing and I will make sure I let my family know of this experience as will as others.
Was there for Five hours for broken ankle. Gave me a child’s walker and wanted me to use it. I sat in chair in waiting room for three hours in pain never was checked by nurse in the hours I waited. The registration receptionist gave me a bag of ice for swelling when I asked for it. Sent home was told prescription was at giant eagle which was closed. Following day sent family member to giant eagle to pick up medication it was never sent. Called ER four times spoke with superviser and was told he sent my med to pharmacy. At 6 pm I was told the prescription was at hospital and I had to come pick it up. I can’t drive and have no one to pick it up. He stated he lost all my files on computer and couldn’t call me. Would not give me his last name.
The woman at the front desk was extremely rude. Going to the hospital as a visitor is never something that is fun for anyone, and this made the experience that much more unpleasant. Don't get a job at a hospital if you are not passionate about helping people. She didn't even say anything to us as we approached the desk. A simple hello would have sufficed. When I asked about what room my grandmother was in she didn't even answer me but just said "no kids. I can't help you." And that was all she said thought the encounter. I was unaware that there were no children allowed and I understand that. But the customer service was absolutely horrible.
Our beloved mother and M-i-L had to be admitted to Jefferson twice. Both times the ER staff was amazing. Very compassionate, extremely efficient, and cared for a 94 year old woman as if it was their own mom. Throughout her stay, she was cared for with the utmost respect and compassion by everyone. Her stay on the 5th floor was extremely wonderful. The nurses and staff were with her 24/7 were exceptional and caring. She was moved to the 4th floor for hospice where she was cared for diligently, professionally and with compassion. We are forever grateful for the warmth that we felt from everyone in the entire hospital. I would highly recommend the professional staff at Jefferson. They are the BEST!
I was in the hospital for about a week dealing with a infection in my ankle and foot. And I can't say enough about how well I was taking care of during this process. I would like to thank Dr Shaw and Dr Scott you both really made sure that this painful process went as good as it could have. I also need to thank my doctors who did the surgical procedures. Dr. Coopa and Dr Winter from Gateway Foot and Ankle. I was in room 4152. To the nurse's and nurses aids, thank you for showing nothing less than absolute kindness. To the dietary folks, the meals you prepared were as good as anything that I've ever eaten. And last but not least, to the gentleman that came to my room with a new remote for the tv so I could hear the sound thank you also. The tv was the only distraction from my ankle.
I was brought in to the ER by ambulance. I was left in a hallway and never brought into a room at any point during my visit. So, all my conversations with doctors, nurses, and other staff was in front of other patients, visitors, and other staff in the hallways. I was also in a hospital gown which was uncomfortable with all those other people around. My partner that followed the ambulance was unable to come back and be with me during my visit because I was left in the hallway. Other than that, the doctors, nurses, technicians, and staff were all friendly and attentive.
Went to Jefferson hospital on Saturday January 28th to find out why I couldn't put pressure on my legs. Check in and assessment was efficiently done. Once in room 14. Noah the assigned nurse was pleasant and efficient. Dr Goldwater came in stated they couldn't get a doppler done to check for blood clots but did a blood panel they can do to rule this out. Prescribed Prednisone and a muscle relaxer without knowing what caused the issue. Discharged without him even checking my leg. Was told to see an Ortho which I told him I worked with Tessenbaum and he ignored this and put another doctor down Dr. Honkala. My discharge papers list the doppler in a pending status under imaging. This was never done. My insurance better not be billed for this. Then when I try to call billing they are not in the United States. Really! Not happy about how the doctor handled this.
