Kankakee River State Park Riding Stables

We took an hour guided trail ride through the Kankakee State Park. We took three kids who had never been on a horse. The staff was extra accommodating and gave the kids excellent instructions prior to riding. The kids absolutely LOVED the experience .

Nice and friendly staff, great price for what you get. The have horses, Miniature horses/ponies and goats. Be nice to the cat outside the main entrance.

I took my granddaughter here for her 10th birthday. Our experience was wonderful. She was able to help groom the horses before we rode. Lorraine and Misha were very informative explaining all the tasks of caring for horses. We obtained so much knowledge and many helpful tips before we rode, and the conversation during our ride was steady and enjoyable. Thank you Kankakee River State Park Riding Stables!

This is easily the best part of our visit to the state park. The people at this place have such genuine care of their horses and their animals here and the animals are such sweet hearts that they love your company. Get ready to spend easily an hour here since you wouldn't want to leave the animals. We went with two preschoolers and two kindergarteners and Misha eased them atop his beautiful horse 'snow' for rides around the stable we didn't take the two hour trail as it was inaccessible from the rain previous night Must visit. Top thing to do if there are kids.

Had a great family experience. The ride was very enjoyable. We took our daughter for a horse ride for her birthday and Noreen made her feel extra special. Our son enjoyed his ride and this was an experience that they will never forget. They were very attentive and went above and beyond for us. They made us feel at home. We felt very comfortable and safe. This is important since none of us has ever rode a horse before. We will defiantly come back again.

Our guide was Misha, and he was excellent! Very knowledgeable and explained things well to inexperienced riders like myself. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to be back.

My friends and I visited yesterday to take the one hour trail ride and had an incredible experience. The wranglers were super friendly! Would absolutely visit again.

The my three kids have done the pony rides a few times now. They usually have a pony and a horse which they have two people leading around the horse and pony. They go 15 minutes and then ask if the kids want to go some more. The horses are very gentle and the crew have been very enjoyable to talk to and are really good with the kids.

Did pony rides with 4 children ages 3-6. It was an amazing time! Very kid friendly and welcomes them to safely explore. We will definitely be back.
