KSU Gospel Choir is a for credit class in the School of Music. If you like singing, good people, and having fun, join us each Monday from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
FALL 2016…Kent State University Gospel Choir is also known as KSU Gospel Choir, Kent State Gospel Choir, Gospel Choir, and KSUGC. I founded KSUGC in the fall semester of 1996 to increase diversity of participants in ensembles as well as diversity in the music that was being performed in the School of Music. KSUGC began as an “Exploratory Class” with 40 students, faculty/staff and community members. Our choir remains diverse by race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation and age, as well as the colleges & major areas of study represented. Choir members have hailed from Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South America. Some of the most recent choir members were from China, Brazil, Germany, Japan, Nigeria, and the U.S. Together, We Are Family (which is our theme song and the fun that we share during rehearsals and especially performances).
God continues to bless us with an excellent local, national, and international reputation! …All the time!
KSU Gospel Choir meets once a week, Monday from 5:30-7:30 PM in the C304, Performing Arts Center. Please join us.
KSU Gospel Choir is designed to study and perform contemporary and traditional gospel music. This genre brings to the stage a style that is different from other choirs in the School of Music. KSUGC is the MOST diverse ensemble, unit, and organization on campus. This diversity, of people and music, is our strength and biggest asset.
Our inspiration for Fall 2016 will be sung and felt by songs such as "Total Praise" by Richard Smallwood, "Better" by Hezekiah Walker, "Shut De Do" by Donald Lawrence, and "I'll Take You There" by the Staple Singers.
Our fall concert will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016, in Cartwright Hall on the main Kent State campus. Doors open at 7:00 and the concert begins at 7:30 PM (under 2 hours in length). Our surprise SPECIAL GUESTS will delight and entertain you!
All children are WELCOMED to come as long as they are not required, by you, to sit and be still for the entire concert. In other words, gospel music is performed better with audience interaction. This concert is free and no tickets are required. Parking is free in designated lots. Please check with Parking Services (330.672.4444). Handicap parking and building access is available. There is an elevator in the building and space for wheelchairs around the auditorium.
Gospel music performed with great taste, lots of energy and genuine spirit
