Creating the future workforce in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by sparking kids' interest in these fields
Kids' Tech University (KTU; http://kidstechuniversity.org), a pioneering educational initiative designed to excite children about science and provide them with a real university experience. Kids' Tech University was spearheaded by the Fralin Life Sciences Institute at Virginia Tech in collaboration with the Virginia Cooperative Extension’s 4-H Youth Development Program. Children, their parents and teachers, visit a local university campus and they participate in a series of engaging scientific activities, including lectures by world-renown researchers and hands-on laboratory experiments. The goal is to expose children early to cutting-edge research in science, math, engineering, and technology to encourage them to purse science careers.
A program with one primary goal: creating the future workforce in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by sparking kids' interest in these fields.
