The Coe College track and field coaching staff has developed our philosophies from many individuals who have shaped the people we are today. Our overall goal is to be one of those individuals for the young people we work with. The goal of every individual within our program is to strive to achieve personal happiness through a disciplined way of life. As coaches we strive to provide the direction and environment to give our student-athletes the best opportunity to achieve success, on and off the field.
Success is a process, a process by which we prepare to achieve those goals we have set forth for ourselves. Our coaching staff believes that the achievement of success can be related to three vital questions. Will you do what is right? This entails taking responsibility for our actions, by executions of assignments every time on the field, classroom, and community. Can I trust you? This is the “every time” part of the last sentence. When you are asked to do something will you do it right and do it well. A devotion to the discipline of ultimate perfection of whatever you pursue. Finally, do you care? Care entails for what you are doing, those around you, the school, the sport, opposing teams, and for yourself.
There are many ways to reach success, however we believe that the path to success must go through the development of commitment, attitude, discipline, sacrifice, and respect. These words make up the backbone of our program and determine those individuals within our program. It is not our abilities that determine who we are and what we achieve, it is our choices.
