From out of state and visiting Austin. This was on our to do list before we came. I would say definitely plan ahead… we got there at 11:30am and didn’t get inside to order until 2. However they had a staff member working the line taking drink orders and helping to keep people hydrated. Staff is friendly and efficient! The food here is worth the wait. We had the brisket, pork ribs, sausages, and sides. The brisket alone is worth the wait, but the pork ribs will bring me back for sure. The slaw was surprisingly spicy, my wife says unnecessarily spicy; but we didn’t go there for the sides. ; The short of it… some of the hands down best BBQ I’ve ever had!
My mouth is watering just writing this review. We all know we can find the best BBQ in Austin, but THE BEST BBQ is found right here at la Barbecue. The service is always friendly and in fantastic moods, they’ll even let you sample something if you’re unsure! But the star is of course the food. Brisket…Mac and cheese… potato salad..you can’t go wrong with any of it. I will always always convince people to come here anytime they’re in Austin! It’s a MUST when you’re in East Austin!
Amazing BBQ! Oh my goodness. Would give 6 stars if I could. Went on a weekday around 2 pm and had to wait about 20 minutes to order. Service was top-notch. Brisket was perfection, spicy pickles, pickled red onions, and chipotle slaw complimented the meat perfectly. Mac and cheese was great, too. Do yourself a favor and add la Barbecue to the top of your list for places to eat when visiting Austin.
Finally stopped by La Barbecue today with my friend. It was outstanding. The service was great thankful they offer drinks while you wait in line! and the food was delicious. We got the following: 2x Beef Ribs 8x Pork Ribs 1x of Traditional, Jalapeño, and Chipotle Sausage Links 1/2 Lb. Moist Brisket 1x Small Sweet Pepper Cucumber Kimchi I will definitely be going back and recommending them to friends. The price, quality, and quantity’s were all perfect.
The experience was absolutely INCREDIBLE! The meat was incredibly well cooked, tasty, juicy, and with a lot of flavor. We ordered two pork ribs, brisket, the chopped brisket sandwich, and the frito pie with pulled pork. Everything was really good, we were so surprised that all the meat tasted so well. My absolute favorite was the brisket by the pound, the best I tried in my life. The brisket sandwich and the pulled pork where really amazing as well, the last one was crispy and tasty. Service was so nice. The price is a bit expensive but it is worth it. I would go back again!
We waited in line for about 30 minutes at 1 pm on a Saturday. The traditional sausage was quite spicy. The pork ribs were alright, but the beef ribs were phenomenal! The brisket was juicy, but felt quite greasy after a couple of bites. I would revisit La Barbecue just for the beef ribs!!Food: 5/5
The brisket here is hard to beat. I would avoid the spicy sides like the coleslaw or eat them after you have the meat. One bite of these will ruin the wonderful flavor of the meat.
Brisket and pork ribs were amazing! But the beef ribs and sausages weren’t as good. The sausages were too salty and too much spices to taste any meat. The beef ribs were disappointing especially since they are only available during the weekend I expected them to be better. They had no depth of flavour like the pork ribs and also overly salted. The chipotle slaw was also too spicy and lacked flavour. Would come back for pork ribs and brisket but everything else was just ok and I wouldn’t get them again.
La Barbecue has some great Bar BQ. We had to stand in a line outside but it was worth. In Austin the Bar BQ paces close when they run out of meat. While we were in line a guy would come out with his magic marker and add to the item list of meats that they just ran out of. We still had plenty of good Bar BQ to share with our group. Staff and Atmosphere was very good. They do a great job at "Keeping Austin Weird" There was a disco ball in the bathrooms with florescent paintings.
AMAZING!! The brisket was delicious, best of my life, the chopped brisket sandwich was very tasty, and the frito pie with pulled pork was as well amazing. The pork ribs were good but their taste was a bit covered by the barbecue sauce, which was pretty intense still recommended. The sweet pepper cucumber kimchi was too spicy for us and the waiter has been extremely kind to change it with the pickled red onions. Absolutely recommended, it is worth the wait in line outside, I would definitely do it again!
