La Costa Canyon High School is a high school in the San Dieguito Union High School District. Located on 88 acres in south Carlsbad in northwest San Diego County, La Costa Canyon opened in September, 1996. The students attending La Costa Canyon live in Encinitas and south Carlsbad. These communities include both beach and agricultural areas and lay in proximity to the University of California, San Diego, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the Salk Institute, and Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation.General information2,295 students were enrolled at La Costa Canyon High School in 2014, with a senior class of over 550 students. The pupil-teacher ratio is 27:1. The average SAT score in 2013-2014 was 1830 and the average ACT score was 28. For the 2013-2014 school year LCC had an API of 834. Approximately 93% of the students are college bound and 25% of the current senior class entered with a GPA of 4.0 or higher.
