small but well kept dog run area in the middle of lafayette park! the dogs seem very friendly and theres a human + doggy water fountain here. if your pups isnt interested in the dog park, you can take them to the grassy field area to run around off leash. Dog-friendliness: lafayette park is very dog friendly. dogs can be off leash anywhere in the park. there are trash cans available for owners to dispose of pet waste. there's also water fountains in case your dogs get thirsty. Picnic area: there are some picnic tables near the tennis courts, but most people bring a blanket and picnic on the grassy area.
It's very nice at this park. Well landscaping is maintained. There's a cool play ground for the little ones too. Lots of friendly people walking the dogs.
When they created this place they could have done so many things better! They really should have worked on putting a double gate on the Octavia street entrance. I don't understand why they didn't put one & countless dogs have run out of the park because of it. A true dog park should be LOCKED. Also they really should have made it more flat, it has quite a slope to it & I know there's a way they could have made it even & flatter. There is also very little shade there on really hot days. All the benches are on the North side & get all the direct sunlight in the noon hour. If you want shade you have to go down & stand by the fence that runs along Sacramento & stay under the only one or two trees that are there. They should have put trees along the back side of the benches. It is a great neighborhood dog park mostly because everyone knows eachother & their dogs. I just wish the developers had asked for input when they created it. It was closed for a very long time & in the time they could have created a safer place.
Lovely well maintained oasis in Pacific Heights where supervised well trained dogs run and play amongst the walkers, nannies, picnic makers, new mothers pushing strollers and sun worshipers. Seating around the park provides wonderful to enjoy while taking a break, enjoying a snack or making a call.
Very clean park. Leash free area has length and there are alot of socialization & personalities. Also big & small doggies. One side is open but it's mostly fenced in. There is a water fountain at the entrance and it's astroturf. Parking was pretty easy in the area. One of the nicest parks for the dogs in the city!
It's a blast to let Oso the service dog play with the high falutint's K9's pets and see their reactions to who is undeniable coolest dog on the continent if not planet in looks, whits or whatever. in a super clean, large enough to run safely fenced in park on the hill.
This park is like lungs in this concrete jungle....i just love the way it is kept and maintained...
Not fully enclosed but this is a top 3 dog park for us. Artificial grass, clean, with plenty of friendly dogs and owners.
Great park for dog owners, this location also has couple of tennis courts and kids play area with nice views.
A dependable dog park experience. Most dogs you may encourage are well socialized. However, occasionally, you may meet a dog owner or caretaker with a new rescue or a rescue whos been traumatized. There is no need to worry tese will be experienced dog owners who know what they doing and will let you know if they there is an issue. So dont be offended if someone ask you to get your dog or if they say their dog is unfriendly. I look at those situations as learning opportunities for everyone .
