I don't recommend this place if you are trying to have a fun and relaxing camping trip. The people in the front office drive around the campsite all day and night telling you what to do like your a child. The space was entirely to small for tents, you can only put tents in certain spots which was between trees, shrubs and dead bushes with limited space between the trees since we didn't have enough room to put up all the tents we slept in our two vehicles that we are only allowed to park because the rest of the vehicle has to be parked way down the street. There are to many things that went wrong to name just know this was the worst camping trip ever and a waste of money. PLEASE DON'T GO HERE!!!!
Camp hosts are the rudest nastiest people I've come across in Texas so far. We came on a Tuesday afternoon. Literally, no one was around us. We parked the truck off the asphalt in the dirt to make a little wind block for my 89 year old mom. She doesn't get to be out much, and we wanted wanted her to be warmer. The camp hosts pulled up yelling to move the truck, yes yelling. We tried to say we're just trying to make her a wind block. They said we don't care to move the truck. Hopefully, people aren't so nasty to them when they're 89. Made me so sad for my mom. She asked why they were so mean. The area is so beautiful, sad tlit has monsters monitoring it.
South Shore Park. #29 Level pad, well groomed area, clean fire pit, some other spots have barrel smokers. Lots of shade for pop camper. Sun rises to right facing camp site tag #, sets to left. Direct sun from 11-2pm then canopy of trees filters. Bathrooms close by...in either direction. Power and Water at campsite. Second concrete pad for tent besides fire pit. On backside of power plant noise, secluded. LOVED IT. Hardly any other RV's in the loop. Observered a Gobbler, several pair of Doe's, plethora of birds and one nocturnal bird heard every dusk and sunup. You could set a clock.. A Chuck-wills-widow.
Great place with picnic area, campsites. My dog enjoyed walking by the lake. Day pass is only $5 or $2 for seniors. Dog-friendliness: Signs welcome pets on leash, clean up posts around the park
Listen y'all this is a good place to visit I caught a lot of fish! A lot my freezer still full. Not crowded !Rooms: 5/5
I like this place. The campsites are nice and big, you feel like you are actually camping in the forest, and there is plenty of hiking and swimming around. The little beach area can get a bit crowded, but it was totally fine. You can bring you dog too, which is a total must for us. We've been here several times, and will definitely go back. They have nice place for family picnics as well.
The showers are always nice and warm. The wildlife will come right up to your car.
Beautiful clean campgrounds highly recommend staying there. Our Thanksgiving camping trip was very enjoyable. The park host were friendly and quick to help. Secluded spots give you the privacy and feeling of being in the woods with local businesses within a 15-minute drive.
Very nice clean park, great for family to have fun. The hall is getting a bit too pricey and has a new "licensing" fee. So now we have decided to have our family reunion every two years instead of every year. They got greedy and in return lost money from my family anyway, but overall it's a great clean park and staff is very friendly.
It was…. Ok? I should have done a drive before picking a spot. Just because it’s closest to the lake, doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed a view. Mine view was completely over taken by weeds and trees. How are you gonna charge $40 a night for an ugly view and mediocre bathrooms? I wasn’t impressed and won’t be returning. There’s better parks for less money. Oh… staff was very pleasant, though.
