I like to take this moment and thank the Lake Villa Police Dept and all its officers for great and timely service these past 2.5 weeks. They provided outstanding service and protection and were visible during the day and evening hours. During an initial attempted and armed home invasion a few weeks ago I contacted 911. The officer on call quickly responded. During the actual event she provided immediate assistance, telling me how to defend myself and family. The actual experience lasted nearly 15 minutes, beginning with hard pounding hit on a reinforced window door pane. The Police immediately came and check the immediate area. Since then we then had some additional incidents and the Lake Villa Police immediately responed coming right away, and continued area surveillance up to this day. A few days later after the initial attempt, a home detection system was installed. At a national level unfortunately there is a trend by some political and judicial leadership to protect criminals and not citizens. This trend must stop NOW. In November all of us have the opportunity to correct this issue. Next time you see any Police Officer express your thanks for their service.
I’ve met Gomez through a friend several times and spent some time with him. Gomez is NOT a racist! I admit his comment was not politically correct, but he was being sarcastic. He also manned up and apologized for his actions. He may of been having a one star day, but he still wears the star. He’s out there every day risking his life for the community. He’s solved murders of peoples loved ones and continues to do his best to keep the community safe.
Detective Gomez should be summarily terminated. He is an abject racist and even worse, he has an uncontrolled temper as well as power and control issues. Anyone familiar with risk assessment would immediately recognize he is a liability to that department and town. Mark my words, if he is not terminated, he WILL be the source of a major problem for them in the future..
Are you going to tell me that Officer Gomez is simply being disciplined and not fired for doing this? I can understand an officer having a bad day, but to detain these kids in part because of the color of their skin is unacceptable. I hope you make the right decision here because we all know what would happen if the races were reversed.
Inexcusable racist Hispanic officer who also tried to initiate a fight with a Caucasian teenager by daring the teen by yelling "you want to be hard with me, be hard with me" trying to initiate a fight with the teen boy. This is a sad and scary display of abuse of power and someone with that mental instability has no business protecting and serving the public. A short term suspension isn't the answer for this dangerous and reckless man who can obviously become unhinged with very little typical pressures in the field. It's best that the department terminate this officer immediately for the safety of the residents of Lake Villa. This officer fails to have the necessary communication skills and verbal judo skills. He's unable to deescalate a situation, in fact he only encourages violence and conflict. For the safety of the folks of Lake Villa, please remove this angry, antagonistic, hate filled, public servant immediately before he seriously hurts or kills someone because he's "having a bad day"... Time to start a petition to remove officer Gomez....how would this pan out if officer "Opie O'Brian" did this to a teen named "Jesus Cordura Ruiz Gonzalez".....let me answer the obvious.... HE'D BE FIRED BY NOW.
I'm a tax payer, job creator, and an American. I have friends in law enforcement in Texas and they and I are extremely disappointed and saddened to see an officer act this way. He is a racist and should be fired and never allowed back into law enforcement anywhere here in the USA..
The police need to be held to the highest standard.If you have a bad temper, you don't get a gun. If you think that your job is to only escalate the situation, you have the wrong job.
I had to do an interview assignment with the chief of Lake Villa PD and she was very nice and friendly!
Fire Gomez the racist or fire the chief for letting him get away with his racist attitude
The department staff and officer that I spoke with were very helpful and understanding of my situation. Thank you!
