About Les Cheneaux Community Library (LCCL), an affiliate of Superior District Library
The Les Cheneaux Library was built in 2003 through the work of a committed group of volunteers and the generosity of many in our region. Our beautiful library is a true reflection of the unique character of the Les Cheneaux area.
The log cabin structure features a quiet reading room with a fireplace, computer lab, wireless internet, wrap-around porch, comfortable furnishings, murals and stained glass by local artisans, and a meeting room with a large screen for media presentations.
LCCL is a member of Superior District Library. Funding from a small millage, penal fines, and donations cover the day-to-day costs of running the library, including staff salaries, internet, interlibrary loans, books, and other materials. Friends of LCCL provide maintenance of building and grounds, including utilities, insurance, cleaning, landscaping, snow removal, and trash removal.
The library has over 2,500 members and houses a collection of over 19,000 titles. In 2013, patrons accessed our wireless network over 6,000 times and over 13,000 items were checked out.
Donations comprise a portion of our budget and the Friends of LCCL's budget. The generosity of our patrons is greatly appreciated.
Your library staff welcomes you. We know you will enjoy the time you spend at the Les Cheneaux Community Library.
