Recommended by a close friend and felt like going for a drive/adventure from boring Lansing. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of Lula's along with the lighting. Wasn't very busy for a Friday evening. There's a pleasant seating area in the front with couches when they are busy which I've never experienced before and is certainly a nice touch. The food was excellent! Best calamari I've ever tasted with their own dipping sauce. The Jambalaya was very good with much content. Thanks Bayou fried rice was even better I thought. Loved the flavor along with the quantity. We had plenty to take home of which makes great leftovers. Four stars instead of five as it seemed the waitress forgot about us a couple times. Overall it was a good experience and we look forward to going back and trying more selections on the menu.
We drove over an hour and was not disappointed. We ate at the bar at Lilly Pears which is the same place and had Charlie as our bar keep and was truly impressed with his drink making skills!! The food had such amazing flavor at the end I wanted to rewind the clock to eat it again. I enjoyed the smoked brisket po-boy.....wow. Well worth the drive from anywhere. Just remember if you come on a Friday or Saturday night you will have to have reservations to sit in the restaurant side. First come first serve at the bar and it wasn’t disappointing.
My husband and I arrived for dinner, we were seated right behind the hostess table, it was too busy for us, so we asked to be moved, which was not a problem. I ordered some drinks, my husband, who is a simple beer man had his Miller Lite. We ordered two appetizers, the wings and the fries which were delicious. We ordered a chicken dinner to split which was good, but not for $24.... We ordered the beignets for dessert which was basically fried goodness with powdered sugar....we'll definitely be back to explore more food options that they have
Service was amazing!!! Cute little restaurant as well. It's a great idea for a restaurant too because you can't get good southern cooking up here! The poutine fries were an AMAZING appetizer. I had the baptism etouffe and it was ok but a little bland, I put quite a bit of hot sauce in. My husband had the jambalaya and it was not good at all. But we will definitely be back.
So this is my third time here in about 3 years and let me tell you how impressive this place is. The food is amazing. Everything I have ever had here was just top notch. I really enjoy this place. I hope to try more of the items on the menu. The lounge attached is a first for me and just looking at it, I would love to hang out there.
Wow, sat at the bar. The bartender was spectacular had a Smokey Old Fashioned. Voted best fried chicken in Michigan and I agree delicious. In town for work and would not have thought of finding a gem like this. Highly recommend.
Excellent service. Food was fantastic. They had a large selection of alcohol for mixed drinks, as well as wine, beer and cider. Chefs specials were on the table with our menus. Waitstaff were prompt, courteous, and kind. My only complaint is the music was incredibly loud and it was difficult to have a conversation with my grandfather. It was loud enough too that he just took his hearing-aids out for dinner. I got the "Oh my Cod!" It was a bit messy, but the flavor was fantastic! Fries were also some of the best fries I've ever had. Will definitely be returning here again!
WOW. First of all. This place has been in my town for years, and I never really went out of my way to try it until the other night. The sign out front definitely gives a different vibe than what's inside. I was thinking more of a diner type restaurant but this place was super clean and really modern inside. They had a jazz band playing, the bar and lounge were completely filled, it was a full house for sure! We were sat on the more quiet dining area of the restaurant where they had a bunch of hot sauces on the walls which were to die for! I ordered the crawfish mac n cheese and it was sooo good!! Add a few drops of your favorite hot sauce and you're in for a good meal! This place is a fantastic spot for a romantic date or a family dinner. A little more on the pricey side but the food, drinks and service is well worth it!
Great service, not so great food. Was part of a going away party and was very pleased with the service. The wait staff was very attentive and had drinks out quickly. While there aren’t many choices in the city for this type of outing, i was hoping to have a better experience then in the past. My food order was calamari and given what the menu says about it, it appeared they know how to prepare it. However, what came out was rubbery and not very pleasant to eat. Maybe it as a bad batch of octopi or a new cook, but what was served was not eaten. Will stick with the bourbon pours the next time; if there is a next time.
Came here on a Friday night and it was the most happening place in a small town like Owosso. The fried chicken skin was super crispy and delicious. Our favorite dish though was Mom's Shrimp Creole. The sauce was creamy yet had a kick. You would wish you had more rice to soak up the sauce! I loved the Pecos Margarita because I love a spicy drink and that drink was just perfect! There was a live jazz performance, which made the dinner very loud, though it was entertaining.
