Lyons Jr. Lodge #290 is a men's fraternal organization working endlessly to better themselves as well as their community.
Prince Hall Freemasonry
Over 181 years ago the first African American was initiated into the fraternal order of Freemasonry. He founded the first predominately black lodge, African Lodge #459, in Boston Massachusetts and assumed the responsibility of educator, leader, provider and many other titles for his community and his people. After his death the organization was renamed in his honor to Prince Hall Freemasonry. Since that time the organization has grown to over 500,000 members worldwide and continues to grow daily. The challenges that our founder faced have changed and some have gone away but new challenges continue to emerge. The Prince Hall Masonic organization continues our forefather’s dreams and goals by stepping up the challenges that manifest within our community.
Lyons Jr. Lodge #290 of Austin, Texas, is an organization through which all men step forward and assume roles of community leadership, responsibility, and guidance. The organization serves as a catalyst to empower men to individually and collectively reach their full potential by maximizing the resources that foster and enhance achievement in education, spiritual, economic and community development.
