Honestly, the banana pudding at Magnolia Bakery in LA was pretty disappointing. I had very high hopes for this place and drove from OC just for this. The flavors didn't really come together well, and pudding lacked any oomph. The texture felt off, and I couldn't finish the portion, which isn’t much for the price. I've had much better banana pudding at other places, and at family gatherings so I wouldn't really recommend it here. The cookies were okay, and the cake was way too sweet. Susie cakes is a much better option for cakes/cookies. The service was pretty disappointing too and not very helpful.
This is one of those places that I found by accident. I heard banana pudding and I had to try it but the cakes are unbelievable. My favorite is carrot cake and they've also made it a carrot cake pudding as well. Unbelievable. You can't go wrong. I have a few photos. I'll add more. Enjoy! Take your time, tip and be nice. It takes time to go through this place so there will be a small line sometime. If there's no line, you're blessed. Enjoy
I’m new to LA so haven’t been many places here. My friend suggested this place for a sweet treat! I wanted to make sure the employees working tonight got recognition. The second I walked in, it was an upbeat pleasant vibe, everyone was smiling ear to ear and quick to service. I could tell the people behind the counter really enjoyed their job. I had an issue with the online order system and explained that to one of the gentlemen working, he went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. I wish I got his name, but I didn’t catch it. I will say though, for the credit it was the employees working Saturday night 7:00pm September 9th on 8389 W 3rd St. I hope the manager will praise these great employees. I will be a forever customer now of this amazing bakery :
The NY bakery chain that started the cupcake craze in the 90’s opened its Los Angeles store in 2011. It has since expanded nationwide and internationally under Steve Abram who took over from the originally owners. Every time I go to NY, I always stopped by Magnolia Bakery in Manhattan on 11 st. to pick up my favorite sweets. I love all their puddings and cupcakes. I have not been to the LA location until today. We stopped by this shop after Easter brunch at Granville down the street. The cupcakes are just as good as the ones in NY. The texture of the cakes are awesome and they are not too sweet. The good thing here is that there is no long line. We got a pecan cheese cake and a banana key lime cake. They both tasted fantastic. The puddings are soft and creamy. You can buy these cupcakes in a dozen and they are perfect for gift giving.
It is a true BLESSING to have Magnolia bakery in my neighborhood! I’ve tried to find a better cupcakes in LA but I always end up with Magnolia, so you know what that means ; they really do great cupcakes and the world best banana pudding, don’t miss them out!
This place is very good if you have a sweet tooth. I had the pecan Cheesecake, all I can say is Wow! The manager Christina greeted us and she was the sweetest woman and took care of us very well. This is a must do place on your list!
Banana pudding was just ok - a little too sweet. They had 6 or 7 people working and no line at 6pm, but we still had to wait almost 5 min before someone helped us.
L.A. has my NYC Bakery! Yum. Congrats L.A. for welcoming Magnolia Bakery. You must try the Banana Pudding.
They have the best banana pudding in the world! The Red velvet cake was nice and sweet too. Nice dessert after lunch.
There’s street side parking near by. A few seats to sit at. Their pudding was really good.
