The petting zoo was a very hands on experience. The deer and goat walked right up to you and nibbled on your clothes. They are all rescued animals. This is well worth visiting the plantation for alone. The deer and goats will come up to you to be stroked! All the animals are rescue animals which is really unique and special. There is a great variety of mostly local species and informative signs. I must shout out the wonderful keepers who talked us through a lot of the animals’ stories and how they look after them all, including watching them be fed. Get there before 3.30 before the main gardens closes.
Cute but small part of the magnolia plantation. Lots of peacocks, some deer, owls, and other animals. Some of the cages were empty. One of the deer was aggressive and was nuzzling individuals with food in the pockets or purses. Overall a nice experience, but nothing like an actual wildlife refuge. It is included with entrance to the plantation.

The petting zoo is AMAZING. The animals are very well socialized. I love taking my 3 year old granddaughter. It will brighten your day!
Super fun and the animals are rescues that wouldnt have survived in the wild, which is super cool. I love that all the animals live with one another in an open space but have areas to be separated too.
