Lillianna, from Texas, was the most courteous, helpful, pleasant bus driver we ever had. She said she has been here only 1 week, but she knew the Island and routes as if she grew up here! We stayed on the Island for 5 days and solely traveled by bus so we were always glad to see her because it would be a very pleasant trip
VTA NO CASH NON REFUNDABLE CARD I BOUGHT DIDNT WORK AND DRIVER DECIDED HE WASNT GOING TO ALLOW MEVON THE BUS EVEN THOUGH THE CARD WASNT WATERMARKED AS USED. BUSSES NEED TO RUN NOT ON SCHEDULE WITH THE DOCKING OF BOAT BUT TO GIVES THE PASSANGER TIME TO DISEMBARK IN TIME TO CATCH THE BUS SUGGESTED TIME WINDOW ATLEAST 10 MINUTES.
Excellent bus service, great way to explore the island. I recommend to my friends that want to I to the beach to use the VTA transportation.
We used the bus all day Monday to get around Martha’s Vineyard and it was great! Still have to wear masks on the bus, which is fine because there isn’t any social distancing since they fill the bus up. I was comfortable riding the bus, everyone on it was respectful of each other. All the bus drivers we had were very nice! It’s a great way to go around the island if you don’t want to rent a car or a bike, or walk. $8 for a day pass- can’t beat that!
Fantastic transit system, super friendly drivers. Thanks for making it so easy and pleasant to get around!
Asshats of the bus drivers on Route 13 will not stop for you. At 5:15pm from Edgartown, Driver clearly acknowledged me and drove right past me. Bus was empty and he had enough space and room to stop but he didn't. Fire these guys already!
The irony is not lost on me. The drivers were on strike for higher wages on July 1st when we rode the bus. So the service and schedule was compromised due to the reduced work force....but here is where the irony comes in. They implemented a fare increase on the very day that they were delivering a compromised product. I love the thought process that says "we are not going to pay more, but you can.". We paid $32 for a family of four two adults and two small children to ride from three miles and we got to stand in line twice and the bus was packed. Good luck with encouraging guest to the island to ride public transportation.
I work at stop and shop in Vineyard Haven. It’s absolutely ridiculous that the buses are 15 mins late almost every time I ride with them. VTA has no consideration for anyone else’s time. I hate riding with them. Period!!!
Finding the stop in oak bluffs was easy to get on and pay. My problem was getting back. Even though the bus makes stops between each town to let people off, they would not actually stop to let people on! No bus signs as well. I flagged down the bus when it wasn't slowing. They saw me but kept going. Nearly missed my ferry off island. Would have been a disaster. They need to be more reliable than that.
