Chaperoning is large investment of time. The chaperones are expected to attend a short training session (see Upcoming Events for dates), weekly team meetings (these meetings will be scheduled once a team is formed), a weekend retreat, the commissioning ceremony, and follow up meetings. Furthermore, we ask that chaperones pay for 50% of their project expenses.
The primary roles of the chaperone are to assist the student leader in the successful preparation, implementation, and follow up of the project and to ensure the success of the project. It is also the chaperone's responsibility to ensure that the four pillars of social justice, simple living, community, and spirituality—are consistently met. While the team leader takes care of the logistics and day to day functions of the project, the chaperone provides support where necessary.
