The founder of Medfield, Ralph Wheelock, became the first schoolmaster for the town. Up until the early 1900s, residents who wished to further their education after ninth grade, enrolled in Dedham or Walpole High School. First graduating class of Medfield High was a class of 8 in 1908. The original building was in what is now called Wheelock School, a public elementary school for grades 2-3. In 1957, the town accepted a gift of land from Amos Clark Kingsbury,( <-- NOT POSSIBLE. AMOS CLARK KINSBURY DIED DEC 1955 ) a Medfield native and public school alum.
