An alternative day program for individuals with special needs who are dedicating their lives to provide humanitarian services to their community.
ACTIVISTS OF THE HEART The Life Experience Program, now in its 42nd year, continues to provide individuals with developmental disabilities with opportunities to be actively involved in the community. Whether through vocational training or altruistic involvement in the Special Peace Corps, members are actively engaged in meaningful activities that help them secure their place in society.
"You are doing an outstanding job working together to help other people. You are certainly carrying on my brother's (RFK) legacy and exemplify his ideals of community service."
- Senator Edward Kennedy
SPECIAL PEACE CORPS CREED: "When I am hungry, send me someone to feed; When I am thirsty, send me someone who needs a drink; When I am cold, send me someone to warm; When I am sad, send me someone to cheer; When I need understanding, send me someone who needs mine; When I need to be looked after, send me someone to care for; When I think only of myself, draw my thoughts to another."
MISSION: To offer young adults with special needs the opportunity to become actively involved in community service and actions for social justice and peace in the spirit of President Kennedy's Peace Corps.
