I miss Mellon st. But as always you revamped the store opened a bar. The prices went up and the quality went down. I used to frequent this place all the time and now I find an excuse to go somwhere else. Get back to your roots. Be the corner store. Not the bar. But remember "diversity is our strength"
Y'all out here blaming the price hike on renovation. Yes they're understaffed at times - JUST LIKE almost every business right now and maybe you all have your head in a hole but the price of doing business has risen and that price is reflected in every product you now buy. Ordered 4 steak and cheeses tonight - was advised of the wait and it came sooner than expected for one person running the bar and kitchen. Food was fire, prices still are reasonable and it's a chill spot with pleasant staff. Don't let ignorant people get yall down, you're killing it. 10/10 will be back
I ordered a steak and cheese sub with waffle fries. The woman was very pleasant on the phone when I called and ordered. She told me it would be about 25 minutes and they were getting pretty busy at the moment. I arrived and was greeted by her at the counter, she again was very pleasant. The food was great! The steak and cheese was perfect, and you can’t beat there price!
Don't even bother. This place used to be the best local food spot in the neighborhood. Affordable, delicious food in a cozy old corner store. Then they renovated, jacked the prices up, spread themselves too thin, and the food suffered. Used to be able to get the best banh mi in town for $4.50. Now they're $7 and slimy and cold. Okay for a quick stop for some snacks or beer or household items. Don't bother with the food. The quality plummeted about a year ago. I used to be a loyal customer but I'm done with this place.
The food has been mediocre since the changeover, but it has somehow become way worse. Fries are no longer included so everything is more expensive, the fries themselves are literally inedible theyre so salty and I like salt and the bahn mi was the saddest thing I have ever seen. Burnt and had two bits of jalapeno, and one of those was a rotting end bit. Absolutely never again.
This place has gone downhill since the renovation. They won't even do large pizzas anymore, instead they would prefer to sell you a small frozen pizza for more than it's worth. Their snack selection has downsized, they can't seem to get a grip on their ordering, and it feels as if they prioritize their bar regulars more than other customers. Not to mention all the prices have been jacked up a ridiculous amount as if there wasn't a big apple or seven eleven right around the corners. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day has been ruined.
Place is super laid back, and super decent food. I love to go just for the comfortability and fun easy going vibes. They have most everything you would ever want at a convenience store and restaurant. Guys who run and own this place are the real deal, they’re out here makin’ it GO! For the people! Great food for great prices and they keep a super friendly staff. Nobody is perfect but when you see people out there givin’ it everything they got, it really shows! Awesome energy and positive vibes!
I come here on my lunch break a couple times a week. The gentleman that work here are SO friendly and welcoming! The customer service is definitely 5 star, I would rate higher if I could! : As far as the food, I have only tried their pizza slices and they are amazing! I'm so glad this pace is here! Anytime I am in the area for lunch, this is my " go to" place! I recommend this place to everyone! :
Mellen Street Market has become my regular place to visit for a quick lunch. I must admit that the pizza is a reasonable price and also incredibly tasty. Banh mi Is an awesome sandwich also with a reasonable price and a fantastic taste. SUPER GREAT HUMBLE new owners and the store is packed with verities which I tend to find practically anything in there. As the store continues to expand and is becoming to be my favorite spot in portland for satisfaction guaranteed than any other corner stores. Definitely Portland's popular new addition!
Been here 3 times and gotten chopped cheese sandwich each time. The first two times it was great- cheesey and hot. Today it was dry and had ketchup on it. Hoping this was just a blip, because it's a great spot for decent drinks and snacks at a good price.
