Founded in 1971, Mercyhurst University Rowing was the first team sport to receive varsity status on campus. As an NCAA Division II college, Mercyhurst University offers rowing scholarships awarded on the basis of individual need and athletic ability.
As an NCAA Division II college, Mercyhurst offers rowing scholarships for both men and women which are awarded on the basis of individual need and athletic ability. Mercyhurst recruits character and places more emphasis on individual work ethic, academic ability, and passion for rowing, than size and ergometer scores.
The student-athletes' participation in rowing at Mercyhurst will allow them to value and enjoy the challenges they will face, which will ultimately benefit their educational experience. Mercyhurst College Rowing trains and develops intelligent successful rowers; our athletes must train and row better, not necessarily harder.
Mercyhurst University Rowing believes in training the body and the mind. Our student-athletes balance their lives to achieve high standards in academics and athletics. Mercyhurst's training program is based on quality rather than quantity, which maximizes the student-athlete's time to train, while allowing them to maintain their responsibilities outside of rowing.
