The playground in Merrimac Park is located in the northeast corner of the park and has a lot of modern features. The play surface is soft rubber that is mounded in spots making the surface itself a play feature. On top of that surface, there are several large climbing and traversing elements that are very modern including some large semi-circular climbing nets, rings and hanging steps, and a wavy black belt bridge. There is also a smaller play structure for younger children. There are a few standalone elements including a rail slide and a spinning seat as well as the more traditional varieties of swings toddler, traditional, and molded bucket. There is also a water spray feature with a triple overhead spray element. There are a few benches and picnic tables as well as a large shade canopy making for a comfortable experience for all. Highly recommend this modern playground.
Great playground for all ages. There is a water feature to cool off in during the summer. Challenge older kids by having them play "the floor is lava". They need to access all of the equipment while only stepping on the green turf.
Lot of nice of kids with mostly respeectable adults well kept playground ..clean and safe. Great park supervisor,
Fun park, newly remodeled has a water feature and umbrellas for shade tables to picnic at. The mounds make it challenging for little one great park for 3-9 most of it is padded foam few baby swings. Free parking available and located not to far of a drive here or long walk to Eli’s Cheesecake Factory, so grab a slice at their bakery thrift store after and make it a really sweet afternoon.
Nice place to take your dog for a walk . A lot of trash to pick up too .
This mid-sized park has both a softball field as well as room enough to get in a game of soccer. There’s a playground where you can bring children of all ages and a small water “pad” where they can run through to cool off in the summer. Day camp groups are always about, but there is a war memorial section towards the front where you can sit on a bench or wander the path under the trees and just be at peace for a bit. There is a small building I have not been in, unsure if there are public bathrooms, and it does get a bit crowded at times. All in all a fairly nice park to spend some time.
Super fun for kids. Friendly neighbors, water feature for cooling off an splashing!
Nice park. My nephews go there for soccer practices & games. Nice layout with a playground for other kids to enjoy. They need to post "pick up after your dog" signs. It can get messy. Some inside employees in charge of desk end to be more friendly in general.
This is a slightly newer park less than 10 years old in Chicago that we've been visiting since it's opening. There always seems to be a good mix of different aged kids there Spring through Fall where we almost always end up joining an impromptu soccer game, game of tag, or hide and seek. The field house while dated is clean and is almost always open with access to clean bathrooms, grab a drink from the water fountains, or to escape the heat. Also the paleteria ice cream man visits often with old and new favorites. In the summer they turn on a large sprinkler that adds a fun and helpful way to cool down. The area has lots of nearby places to eat with street parking and a small parking lot. Overall I recommend this park for children of all ages.
Park itself is great! Parents there on the other hand can be extremely rude. Probably nothing to take personally, but you can't get upset with a toddler for accidentally splashing a little water on you as you walk by the sprinkler.... it's just a little water, I don't think it'll kill ya
